Those of u with td06-20g or 18g on sti-in 4th gear at what rpm do u hit full boost?
Am considering these turbos, but want to make sure they are not too laggy. My stock vf39 with supporting mods and reflash hits 22psi at 2650- 2750rpm.Also how is re-spool after throttle lift off and on. ie throttle response? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

My STi is td06-18g'ed. The lag is right around stock. Throttle response is amazing. I dont know any numbers off the top of my head, but next time I take it for a drive, Ill take a look.
For as cool as it is to have insta-boost, Ive found myself wanting a bit more on the top end. I will probably step up to a 20g or a SZ49 come summer time. -George |

It wasn't dynoed.
Estimates from my tuner (Phil @ Element Tuning) put me around 320. Forgive me for not knowing the definition of PSI Threshold. If you'd define it for me, Id be happy to see if I could answer the question. -George |

wondering what the peak boost was, if it was controllable, or if it crept (and ifso, how high)
dont know if that is the true definition of boost threshold, but rather the definition of what im after. thnx ese ps- 320Whp, based on a ____ baseline WHp. |

Peak boost right now is 18.5, which is low because Im still on the stock topmount. Any decent front mount should yeild a major gain.
There are no problems with holding that or creeping. Didn't get a baseline for the car, but I will look into the type of dyno that was used to base my whp estimate on. If I remember correctly, Phil said that he was working on a car w/ a Green that wasn't quite running right. He dyno'ed that car at around 320hp and said that mine felt equally, if not slightly stronger. It is an absolute BLAST in 1st-4th gear. The power in 5th drops off noticeably (though still stronger than stock), but keep in mind this turbo is still on the small side of the spectrum. There is enough power and boost comes on quick enough that any highway passing can be done is 6th w/o down shifting. Odin, Not sure of boost to redline, will check into that. When I upgrade (probably Spring '06) I'll let you know. The car will be in storage all winter, I'm picking up a Nissan Titan to beat around in for the nasty months. -George |

remember, a FMIC is a waste on the vf39. I proved the math last weekend, i am running the vf39 w/ just a TBE and cobb stage 2 vs an sti w/ FMIC, custom tuned, TBE and MBC ...
I held on him and began to pull ... and he puts down more whp than I do ... proof that power curves win the day and the FMIC was killing him inbetween shifts ... only putting this out there as info, cheers! |

odin,
The reason I haven't answered your questions yet is because Im at college. I rarely get the chance to drive my car, however, this weekend I'll be heading home. Ill get your answers posted by Saturday at the latest. -George |

This is on a hybrid motor (ej257/wrx heads, 8.7:1 cr) with an MRT TMIC, ECUTek, catless TXS TBE and all the supporting mods.

TMIC vs FMIC is important. So is after market header brand vs stock manifold vs ported polished manifold. Heat coating on various parts too. Those factors will make a pretty big diff on spool time and partial throttle response. I'm sure alot or most of you know this, I'm just reiterating the fact we need to know supporting mods in order to have a full understanding of what it takes to make these turbos spools this well.
