Wow, just a little tid bit, I got off the phone with an official Link Plus distributor and tuner in the NorthEast (no names figure it out I guess), and boy did we have a conversation. I expressed some of my concerns and hearsay and what not from the countless threads I have read while at home or work. Here is what he had to say basically, the people don't know what they are doing with them. I mentioned the closed loop lamba feature that basicallys autotunes your car, and he said he has installed it many of times with no problems, it works on all the cars he has with no problems. I asked about fuel cuts problems while cruising, he said any Link Plus he has ever tuned has never had any of these problems.
Just to some it up, he is basically saying anybody that has problems with the Link Plus should not be touching it. He explained how the newer generation with good computer literacy think they can tackle the rigors of tuning a Link Plus, but don't fully understand how everything in the software is relative to the car. I was laughing pretty much the whole time, inside that is, but took a lot of what he said to heart. He said if it ain't tuning, it's wiring, or vice versa. It might have been more of a sales pitch. If the supposed auto tune feature of the Link Plus was that easy why isn't everybody doing it for a quick baseline? He made is seem like a simple install of a lamba and poof it's done. What do you guys think? Is this guy on drugs? Are the problems people encountering, tuning problems or software bugs? Just curious what people have to say.... Oh yeah still looking for Link Plus maps.... |

even though i dont know much ive said it before and ill say it again
most people on this board dont know what theyre talking about they either had someone else do the work for them, or they did it themselves incorrectly go ahead and yell at me again if u want but u know if you yell, its because im correct alex |

Um, i think the guy would say nothing to make the product look bad, but i think alot of people think this tuning this is just a simple task of pushing a few number. just my plunk, plunk, 2 cents.

yeah that is what the guy was basically trying to say, he elaborated on how you need to understand how the car will react to "pushing a few number" in the Link. He never did say anything bad about the Link, maybe a sales pitch, but he did bring up the Motec as well, and went on the same road. Even though it was high end and one of the better stand alones, people were still bringing bad wiring jobs and horrible tunes because they didn't know what they were doing. He also said he likes to keep off of Internet forums, just because of this. Hearsay

So I must me a guru if I got my car idling like stock and running fine on the LINK+, all by myself!
I agree that it does take automotive knowledge to know what to do on the LINK, but c'mon, it's not that difficult to figure out. (It's the fine tuning thats a PITA, to have the assurance of getting someone to tune it PERFECTLY, and think to yourself, there, it's perfect!) |

I've been running the Link Plus for 2.5 years now and like it a lot. There are lots of rumors out there about Links in general but it really does come down to tuning and knowledge about what reacts with what as well as the software itself. Like Wedge my idle is like stock, if not better (15.5:1) Vac also runs like a charm whether is cruise or random WOTs.
And boost.. well running 18psi on STOCK EVERYHING other than fuel system, clutch/flywheel, pushing more than 300WHP and 320lbs/ft torque. Obviously if the Link Plus sucked or there was a lack in my tuning knowledge this would not have been possible. My advise is if you wanna tune the Link Plus yourself, learn EVERYTHING about it first. This is assuming you already know hoe an engine functions and why all the options in the Link Plus are needed. If you dont wanna get into all that your better off having/paying a Link expert to do it that lives near you. |

wow some great feedback, you run 18psi on stock internals? Very nice to say the least.

its all about the tuning, as WRC 555 is an example of, if you tune it with no det you can get away with it for longer, but even with great tuning you will still stress the parts not built for it, so its only a matter of time before something goes, which it seems he is ok with. very nice work.
