News New STI promotional material on subaru global site

http://www.subaru-global.com/special/sti2007/index.html

It supposedly shows the North American Model in the opening video. Lots of specs and pictures, and all in english.

I dont think this is a repost, so if it is, lock it up......

Enjoy!

lower grills are different from the JDM. No fog lights for USDM. Ah one more thing we won't get. No fogs, no good seats, no smart key, etc....

Look closer guys. the driver is on the wrong side for USDM. the tach shows the Europe/USDM engine, but the exterior is definitly not USDM.

Being Canadian, i beleive fogs are included. i sure hope since my white STi is going to be built Mid Nov and be in my hands mid Dec 07 to Earily Jan 08.

It is really hard to tell, but i *think* the steering wheel is on the left. I think you are right about the speedo....

I also am pretty sure we are getting fogs. There will be different trim levels and this car was probably one of the lower trims.

Wasn't there a bunch of talk about the Recaro's not having side airbags which is the supposed reason why they don't make it to our shores?

check the interior link, they have SRS side airbags

There may have been some talk, but per the spec sheets all of the available seat options have side airbags. The speculation (which I'm guessing is right based on past SOA decisions) is that the Recaros are too small for fatass americans. They changed seat designs in '04 because there were too many complaints about the seats being "too tight".

If you look under Design, Interior, Controls... You can click on the guages. That picture/model shows an 8,000 RPM redline.

I wonder which one we'll get.

You can stop wondering -- the site clearly states that the model shown in the movie is the North American model. The car shown in the stills is the JDM car.

The home market gets the Recaros, twin-scroll 2.0l, quicker rack, pushbutton start, headlamp washers...am I forgetting anything?

The USDM gets a John Deere redline, slower rack, garbage seats...

Hello, Evo X!

Default Sti promotional video on youtube

Couldn't find this posted- sorry if it's already been covered:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GisFDEDrzzg

2/3rds in shows the car at speed briefly. Not too much body roll, but not really being pushed either. Audio all in Japanese.

Waaa? The 08 WRX was upped to 6500rpm and the new STI may only have 200 more rpm?!? I hope not!!

Sounds like another insignificant omission/fault in the JDM to USDM bludgeoning... but I always felt the STI 7k rpm (vs 6250 for 06-07 WRX) was another reason to go STI over WRX (USDM models).

I can handle loosing 1k redline for the added half-liter (previous gen JDM vs USDM STI), but if they keep chipping away what makes the STI valuable over the WRX...

Hell, I think a vast majority of folks wouldn't care less about the STI if the WRX came stock with a 6MT. Wonder if that's why it's not included when many other cars in the WRX segment are 6MT?

If power is tapering by 5000 RPM what good is another 2k RPMs?

6 short forward gears + 6700rpm redline = a whole lot of shifting.

And the higher 7K redline on the previous STi wasn't wasted -- the AVCS saw to that.
