I wouldn't touch that thing for that price. The way it sits and where that picture was taken, you know that thing has been beat on. If he's patient, you can find one in the 1200-2000 range that has similar miles but has been owned by a family and treated it well as a grocery getter.

http://holland.craigslist.org/cto/3428495913.html - Depending on "noisy," I'm guessing it's either a center differential, or just notchy shifts. I have a Phase II Transmission with that had a bad Center Diff that will be replaced with a known good center diff.. If that's something your friend wants to undertake (a transmission swap), this car would be a perfect candidate.

And that was a quick search.

That's where the hard part is he's trying to trade his 91 caprice for it which is in just as horrible shape as the beatup wagon. I will show him those links though.

It was a clutch adjustment issue. I messed with the linkage under the dash and found that the locking nut on the rod was loose so my clutch was engaging closer and closer to the firewall. I adjusted it back so it was in the middle and it has been perfect since. Getting it in that from a stop is no longer an issue and I can even get it in to first over 20mph. :-) Do you want the assembly back? If not then I'll just kick it to Sam when he takes my is transmission since he needs an assembly anyways.

My buddy is their main mechanic. If you're willing to make that drive, I throw my support behind that guy any day. When you call, ask for Grant and tell him that Travis sent you. That guy has been a savior with my last two WRX's when I run in to something and need a part or advise, and he's never been wrong with what he's suggested.

Otherwise, I don't have anyone to suggest. Most of us down here do our own work so we're not too knowledgeable on trustworthy shops.

Hey guys I need some opinions. I have an 06 Wrx stage two with 100k on it. I found an 06 Sti that looks clean and I'm gonna go check it out and possibly trade my Wrx in for it. It has 73k on it. My payment will go up about 50/mo and my loan starts over so I will be paying on it for 6yrs. My question is... Is it worth it to start over for the Sti. I don't have the option to sell my car then buy this due to time constraints or else it would help cuz my cost would be less. Unless someone on here wants a smoking deal or my Wrx Is it worth it?

It is if you don't have a lot of wrench time into it yet.

In my case, I had a beautiful 11 LGT limited. I continued to spend money to "make it a STi" finally I did the math and realized it was cheaper in the long run just to buy an STi. Unless your a great mechanic and you can do the hard swaps yourself (6speed and brakes) labor is what was killing my projects. On the caution side I now want a forged motor.. So I guess for me it will never end?

My plan with this one is to go to stage two and enjoy I would keep my exhaust and put that on the Sti. Use an ap and go stage 2 and call it a day.
