I have the same problem as others with the traction and hill assist lights on as well as the dccd lock. I tried to go back and center the ring but still with no luck. Anything else i should try or suggestions on what to do? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Nice write-up and pics.

Is the car shown your first posts a 2008 STi?

As far as you know, this should work on 2008-2014 WRX/STi, 2008-2011 Impreza, and 2009-2013 Forester, right?

Do you know whether it will or won't work on 2012-up Impreza, 2012-up Crosstrek, and 2014-up Forester (which all switched to the "Legacy/Outback" style SWC buttons)?

08 STi was used in this test, but this would be the same for all 08-14 STi and WRX models.
We have not done this install on the Forester or Legacy model so we cant say how similar or different they would be. But my gut feeling tells me they should not be much different.

Does the smaller wheel revolutionize the steering response/feel?

Or is this upgrade more for aesthetic reasons, and leg room?

As these wheels are smaller in size they do give a slight increase in feedback, and also being thicker grip they do feel much better when driving hard.
They are made out of better materials then stock, so it also gives the driver the feeling of a better driving experience. Its similar to what you find on on E46 M3 Comp packages or the MB Black Series cars, as it overall just improves the driving experience and feel of the interior.

When removing the old steering wheel. Make sure your old steering wheel is as close to a 12 o'clock, 6 o'clock position, with the wheels straight of course. When you line up the new steering wheel you need to try and get it as close as possible. The good thing is that if you're a little off, you can always take the steering wheel off and move it over a groove which ever way you need to move it.

Thanks,

Jeff

Put some masking tape on both the column and the back part of the wheel. Draw a straight line on both pieces of tape with a straight edge. Do the swap and line up the lines.

And don't let the clock spring spin.

I have no idea where to put this, but during my installation of the DAMD wheel, I now have the same problem as others with the traction and hill assist lights on as well as the dccd lock. I have re-calibrated the clock spring to center about 8 times and still with no luck. What did you do to fix the problem?

I think what you're seeing over on IWSTI is the best that we have to offer. That is why i asked you if your wheel was straight. My wheel was one spline off to the right on the 1st shot and my TCS was all pissed off when turning. Are you sure you are getting the wheel (and clock spring) completely in the right spot?

You could try driving it to confirm the car's front wheels are straight at whatever position the steering wheel is in and try my masking tape marking on the column and airbag. That will give you the best reference possible. reset the clock spring, put the wheel on straight and see where you're at.

Other than that try to get on the phone with IAG or any other shop that has experience with these issues.
