Default Root cause of raw fuel smell issue?

First, I do not have the fuel leak for which the SOA fix applies. But, I did just get a fuel leak from a different hose on the days when it got very cold in PA.

Does anyone know why cold temps caused the original leak?

I want to see if the same root cause would apply to my leak (from a piece of non-OE fuel hose that connects to the fuel filter "in"). I was fine during the warm months and seems fine again now that we're in the 40s.

Thanks.

Well - the fix is to shorten the hard line and lengthen the rubber hose - based on that, I would guess that as it gets cold, the rubber line gets stiff - if it's short, there isn't enough material there to deal with engine vibration, and the seal is lost, resulting in a leak.

I would check the fuel line and make sure it's not scored on the inside or something, then try a different clamp to hold it in place (maybe the tubing is too large an id and when you crank down the clamp, it results in a leak?)

Thanks. Since my issue is the rubber hose connection from the firewall to the fuel filter, engine vibration isn't an issue. I've re-tightened the clamp, but I'll have to wait until it gets cold to see if it starts leaking again.
