Tell me about it. New miata, new mustang, better brz. I have money now too and hopefully my dream will come true of being able to own a car brand new from day 1 all the way until it dies permanently around 300k miles.

I bought both cars used, at great prices--but I do want to experience the exciting sensation of a new just yours car that'd lose value quickly, but imo the BRZ/FRS vert would be a great, I'd figure over 5 years it'd lose 4k/year, maybe a bit less---which is quite reasonable to have a "new" car. But I loved the way the FRS drove, it just has a damn small interior, and no hatch utility. If I were to get one, one of the first things I'd be doing will be installing a hitch and maybe try to see how to mount an iphone/ipad inside. |

I really like the idea of a BRZ convertible, and would strongly consider buying one.
Ironically, a big complaint about this car was its lack of power. Why they didn't offer the 180 hp version of that engine in addition to the 140hp version is beyond me. My old roommate had a 2002 (still has it, actually) and I drove it quite a lot on mountain roads. It was an absolute riot to drive on tight corners if you kept the revs up. |

seriously, I drove one and I guess 10 years of driving a wrx with bits added for extra power, or a sti has really spoiled me to driving a fast car. |

They aren't wasting a damn thing by not releasing a higher spec model right now... they're raking it in.. and in a few years when you can actually buy one off a lot (ie: sales fall below production) they will be wise to release an incrementally higher spec model... followed by a truly high-spec model. |

I think that may come sooner than you think! SOA asked for more cars, and I believe they are getting them. Right now, it looks like we will be able to earn an allocation of them within a few months. We had a wait list from hell, but they started to roll in faster and our last 3 all show to be arriving in the same month. ?????. Maybe orders slowed up enough for the factory to get ahead? Maybe those little work horses kicked some butt on the assembly line? Going to be interesting the next few months. |

At the MX-5 Club Specs price point, they should really be comparing it to the BRZ Premium which includes HID, better interior(subjective), and 21/28mpg vs 22/30mpg. People who really are interested in a brand new roadster will now be able to have the best of both worlds. What difference would comparing the Miata to the BRZ Premium instead of the FRS make? There was almost no attention paid to equipment levels. This was strictly a "how it drives" evaluation. Given that, how would the Subaru's HID lamps, garbage NAV HU and brittle, playskool interior change the result? This time, the Miata takes the top spot despite the Scion's price advantage. And they really, really loved the Scion. |

With the (assumed) higher price point..I wonder if it would be released as a Toyota with all the features as the high spec. GT86.

It would sell better as a Toyota convertible for sure. Caters more to that demographic.

^^^^^ Agreed.
Toyota North America should admit defeat and just absorb Scion. Scion: stupid idea, stupid brand. |

Oh god it's amazing...
Well I know what I'm going to be buying in 2015 for sure. Iphone holder is def amazing and cute. Functional way to push a logo in your way. Only downside is that it requires premium only, maybe it'd be support e85? Not a massively big deal, just a minor annoyance. Also, it's going to be a soft top. Look at the trunk lines and that space behind the rear passenger seat. http://i.imgur.com/dmm48Fo.jpg http://i.imgur.com/CQeL35L.jpg http://i.imgur.com/PSAD3Vb.jpg http://i.imgur.com/bWNYMXu.jpg Last edited by kirbykirb; 02-28-2013 at 09:44 PM. |
