550 is the Maranello not 355 360 is the Modena. |

im not into the racing horse
i know the 360 modena.. but isnt the 550 based off of the 355? |

The 550 is a modern rendition of the '62 Ferrari 250 GTO with the front engine V12 (it is what the viper is to the '65 Shelby Cobra if you will...). The 550 Maranello is also a front engine V12. The "classic" Ferrari. The Ferrari 360 Modena is the continuation in a series that began with the 308 > 328 > 348 > 355 > 360 What is common about all these cars? They are all MID engine V8s with the engine compartment right behind the cockpit of the car. They are what our generation thinks when we hear 'Ferrari' but ask a non-genXer who is older and you will hear about the Daytonas, 250 GT0s, 275 GTBs...all front mounters with LOTS of cylinders |
