Default Please check my datalog (not hitting target boost)

Wow... 6 years here and I never knew we had a seperate AP forum

Anyways, I picked up this '04 WRX 4EATer about a month ago and finally got around to doing some datalogs. The pull was done in 2nd gear on a flat surface (only thing possible in 4EAT). I ran out of room, so this was all I was safely able to log.

From what I understand so far, it's not knocking at all. DAM is at 16 and says there. Dynamic Advance shows positive numbers too. Feedback Knock and Fine Knock Learn are at zero and do not fluctuate. During cruising, I logged a good bit and Fine Knock Learning it only went to -1.5 for 2 time periods.

I'm concerned I'm not hitting target boost. I hit just above 14PSI on this run. Being new to this, does it look normal? I believe the engine is not knocking, but I might need to run one of the wastegate MAPs.

I highlighted in orange where the actual pull takes place. Seems max is about 14PSI.

The log doesn't look bad. Not really any knock to speak of which is a good thing.
It would help if the log were smaller and if you could use the default columns. there is a lot of filler in there. Coolant temp and such.

Some of your long-term fuel trims (A/F Learning 1) are extreme, which indicates a potential fueling issue. What are all your mods?

AP 93 Octane 'normal' MAP - probably the 3.00 version

That I'll have to check. I've had the car two months and bought it from the previous owner who installed all of this. I've checked everything over mechanically, had the timing belt and spark plugs changed, and had a Subaru specialist shop check it over. All came out good.

They did not check anything with the AP. I was thinking of flashing to the 91 octane MAP anyways, just for added insurance. I'll check to see if it is the SF intake MAP currently installed.

Bill might be able to confirm, but it appears as if the OTS maps are the same for the stock intake and SF intake (even though they are on different pages on their site). The files are exactly the same size and same name, down to the byte. For example, the 91 octane MAP is a completely different file and size.

I should most likely upgrade to v3.1 though.

Just checked. V3 and says "for use with the stock intake" in the description on AP. It very well might be the problem. It appears he just installed whatever came on the AP from the factory.

The Cobb SF and stock intake are the same map for your car. You do want to be running the v310 map, which is the latest and is much more consistent that the older maps. You will need to reflash it to your car (do not install as realtime) which requires the same procedure as when you installed your AccessPORT (connect the green test mode connectors and initialization block). I would go ahead and reflash the 91ACN, our most conservative map for now (until you figure out the fuel trim issue). Reset your log list to the default (reset log list under "Monitor" menu) if you do any more runs.

The extreme long-term fuel trims have nothing to do with the map (although they will be cleared when you reflash the new map and will take some time to re-populate accurately). Instead, you are likely looking at a mechanical issue. Big ones for these cars are 1. intake tract leaks 2. bad MAF and 3. bad front o2. Intake tract leaks are the one to rule out first. If you have an air compressor, you build your own pressure tester.

Thanks, I'll check into those possible mechanical issues this weekend and most likely reflash to the 91 octane v3.1 anyways.

From the values, is the car running lean or rich? My interpretation is that it's reading lean and the ECU is compensating by adding more fuel.

That is correct -when fuel trims are positive, it means the ECU is perceiving a lean condition and is adding fuel to correct. When they are negative, it is the opposite - perceives a rich condition and is removing fuel to correct.

When you have positive fuel trims across the board (and at least some are extreme), this can point more to the MAF sensor. Could be contaminated or bad. Not a certainty, though. If you know someone with a turbo Subaru, you can swap their MAF sensor on yours. First do a WOT 3rd gear run to redline on your sensor, making sure Mass Airflow is your parameter set (you can also calculate this from load and RPM in a spreadsheet but I would just add Mass Airflow - it is already part of the default set). Then swap in their sensor and do the same. Compare the peak Mass Airflow between the two - if your friends' sensor shows significantly higher airflow, your sensor might be the issue.
