Swapping from 7cm to 8cm on 68hta
I have a Baja Turbo with a FP 68hta and supporting mods. Motor is coming out tomorrow for either valve or rings (will find out when its out). I figured might as well do some minor mods while everything is out because I'm going to need a new tune regardless. So the FP 68hta that I have been running has a 7cm hotside and I'm looking to swap it to an 8cm.
FP wants $295 for theirs. I found them on Kinugawa for $135. They are both TD05H 8cm housings... Will theirs work?

I purchased an FP 8cm housing before from someone here on nasioc. Paid $150 for it slightly used. Here's some additional info on the 7cm vs 8cm. http://www.mainelysubarus.com/forums...68-8cm-on-25l/

Did it before when I had a 68HTA, any TD05H 8cm housing should work, I bought mine off ebay

If your going larger, why not go ahead and do the 10cm?

I feel like 10cm would be way too lopsided for the 68hta. I was just wondering why one would cost twice as much as the other...

Dave D. had pretty good luck with his, from what i've read/saw 8cm might be a bit small on 2.5L cars with avcs. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...ght=hta68+10cm

Yes, my tuner, Dom recommended the 10cm and the build has been very strong as hta68's go.
Eventually I am going to go to a 1.5xtr as the '68 is more sensitive to heatsoak from what I gather from Dom and examination of many dyno charts. That's why this is such a good E-85 turbo. For example, my best dyno #'s were at 50 degrees. Dom did some fine-tuning last summer at 80 degrees and the same setup was up in relative hp when he was done, but still down almost 30hp on the dyno. I did a few 60-90 4th gear pulls in the heat and got about 3.9 seconds consistently. The other day when it was 47 degrees I was getting 3.2 over several pulls (this is right in there with my 6.0 second 50-100 time in winter). The 10cm does help with the heat soak, especially on pump. If you run pump, 10cm is a no-brainer. (By the way, I managed 5.4 sec 50-100 all in 4th without my cargo rack, but all I had was a stopwatch at the time. ) Last edited by Dave D.; 10-22-2013 at 04:34 PM. |

The kinugawa and FP housings are most likely both made by kinugawa.

If anyone has dyno charts of their hta 68 or one with each exhaust housing I'd be interested to see I have a hta68 on my ej207 it holds out good till around 7600 it starts dying pretty bad I was considering doing the 10 cm exhausting housing for better top end
