Yes, I'm referring to ballistic coefficients. And before you start in, I understand that there shouldn't be any problem hitting things with a .308 at "normal" ranges. There are just better cartridges out there. I don't really want to argue this, but I won't back down from it either.

Plus, to be totally honest, there was a kid at my elementary school that always used to talk about how badass his dad's .308 was. It got on my nerves, and left a bad taste in my mouth for that chambering. Silly, I know, but I'll also never name a kid Justin or Jeremy for the same kind of reasons...

honestly there is a stigma amongst americans and the .308 and the 45 ACP for that fact. They're not the defacto rounds for their fields. .308 pales in comparison to the .300 winchester mag or the .338 lapua mag. I'd rather take a 10mm to field over the forty-five any day of the week.

matt, seriously.

short action, versus long, and recoil are major issues with the 300 win mag and the 338. I like all three of these rounds.

One of the reasons I like the 308, bullett offerings, everything from 110 to 200gr, inherantly accurate, pretty easy to load and get a round that will shoot well. I currently have a set up that puts my handloads at .35 in at 100yd.

My favorite round for long range shooting is actually the 6.5-284 Norma. If you(not referring to anyone specific) havent heard about it, read up, its amazing. great BC's, way less recoil then any of the 300 win mag.

I am not trying to start anything and I agree with jason that I prefer bolt action rifles. But man do i love my BAR10 and AR-15. I would actually like to go out and do some shooting in the spring with ya, gun owners are great people! I also have a .22-250(700 VS) that just shoots the tits off a fly.

^Here's a man who understands where it's at. The 6.5-284, and even 260 Ackley Improved, can still offer better downrange ballistics than a 300 Win Mag with less recoil; and fit into a shorter, stiffer action. Also, the 300 Win Mag will always have that short neck- which means the longer, heavier bullets with ballistic coefficients approaching that of the 6.5's will intrude into its extra powder capacity.

Maybe we should have a Purdue meat and shoot when it gets warmer?

I'm down. I'll bring back a couple of rifles the next time I go home. Someone mentioned a page back or so that they had access to a range, correct?

Oh, and I'm meeting Edward at bdubs tonight if anyone's interested. Cactus maybe...
