Default Winter Storage Help?

Hey everyone! I'm about to store my 2013 sti over the winter as I have it far to lowered to drive in the winter for Saskatchewan winters in Canada. I just want to get some tips on storage since this is my first time storing a vehicle! I've changed my oil about 200-400 Km's ago so I think I should be good on that, I'm going to use fuel stabilizer as well, any suggestions on good fuel stabilizers? And car cover. If you guys have an tips and extra help thanks for it!

You buy a car that is practically made for winter driving.

And you're going to park it.

I park my beater (2002 Saturn S Series) in the winter. This is what I do:

1. Fill up the tank as far as it will go before it starts to spill over
2. Put it on jack stands
3. Remove Battery

I've never bothered with fuel stabilizer and haven't had any issues in the years that I've been doing this.

When I tracked my GC8 on Tein medium race springs, I switched out the springs in the late fall for stockers, replaced the 4 pots in the front with stock brakes, threw on the steelies with snow tires and drove it all winter.

Here, I thought maybe you had a Lotus or Ferrari to store for the winter.

I'll tell you what I do with my Lotus. I drive it into my garage. There. Now you know what I've been doing with toy cars for well over 20 years.

As much as i want to romp around in the snow with my 2013 i dont think its a good idea because of my summer tires and the salt in new york is harsh. I have a truck i can drive so why not preserve my car as best i can. I vote garage for this winter. Im actually planning on calling it quits this week.

I have tried doing that with my evo last year its a pita, the hose freezes its like a waiting game for one day above 32 degrees. Plus it will start getting expensive bringing it to get cleaned all the time and frankly im not a fan of people washing my car you never get the same results as doing it yourself.

I have a California car cover, best there is. Custom fit, with spoiler pocket, mirror pockets etc. I'm not affiliated with them in any way, I'm on the opposite coast, I just love their car covers. If you leave a car uncovered in storage, the amount of spider crap, mouse crap, and or dust buildup will become intolerable. Definitely wrap it before you tap it.

Awesome stuff

Similar to storing a motorcycle, I'd throw it on jack stands to avoid any flat spots on the tires, add fuel stabilizer to avoid any corrosion, then I'd add a battery tender
/charger and if that isn't possible I'd just remove the battery. It wouldn't hurt to run a little sea foam when you begin to drive it again either

I stored mine this week too. I filled the tank about halfway and added a fuel stabilizer. Then I pulled the battery and left it on a trickle charger. Tossed a cover on it, and it should be good to go. I also bought a couple dehumidifier packets to suck out any unwanted moisture, but I don't know if I'm going to use those yet.

In the spring I will change the oil and filter, top anything off that needs it, drive to the gas station and fill up the tank. That should be all it needs.

Fill the tank all the way.
Moister will be a problem long before the gas turns bad, especially if you added stabilizer.

Interesting I have always heard to fill the tank halfway and then add stabilizer. That way you can mix in fresh gas when its time to bring the vehicle out of storage. I was told the same for my boat too.

dumb....now you have left air space to let moisture condense and puddle at the bottom of the tank

YOU ALWAYS ADD THE STABILIZER FILL THE TANK FULL---LEAVE 5% FOR EXPANSION....AND DRIVE THE CAR FAR ENOUGH TO GET THE STABILIZER INTO THE WHOLE SYSTEM

THEN PARK IT

Parking sti during the best time of year

How to properly store your car:
