Default That pink stuff growing in my shower isn't going to hurt me right?

I guess I should clean the shower a little more often. I have a little bit of pink stuff growing in the corners on the grout. I think it's just some kind of mildew, but I have no idea what that means for my health.

I cleaned it tonight, but I know it will be back.

That is actually very nasty stuff. I use Tilex generously on it and yes, it can hurt you if you rub your open wound on it or lick it.

Eww, Jared that's gross!

I dunno about around the grout, but I get the red/pink stuff on the shower head.

And I agree about the after-shower cleaners. They are a good habit to get into.

You're place souds like it is in need of a germophobic girlie touch.

Edit: 'Course my shower is actually pink, so I duno if I'd even be able to see it if it was there.

So you are coming over to clean my shower...that's what I'm hearing here.

I cleaned it up with some Clorox wipey things, but I'm definitely buying that after-shower spray stuff.

its mineral deposits. We get a ton of that here. Sucks because you have to really scrub it with a brillo and Ajax to get it off. Use one of those after shower sprays. It helps a lot.

No, no, Honey. That's for your lady-friend back in PA. I got my hands full with Psyber's nasty spider-farm bathroom.

It's not mineral deposits. It's a growth, in the mildew/algae family and is present in tap water. Swimming pool techs commonly refer to it as Pink Slime. Any chlorine-based cleaning product (Clorox!) will stomp it out in a hurry. Killing Pink Slime is the reason tap water is chlorinated, btw.

It can cause some irritating skin conditions if it's not addressed... keep that shower clean, bish!

You gots JDM mold! Kill with bleach. Tip for prevention: Use ventilation during and after your shower. Those post shower cleaners don't work on mold, they are only an advertising gimmic for the weak minded. There is a fan or window in every bathroom for a reason and that reason is NOT when you go #2.

<--------knows far too much about mold due to wife's career in wallpaper installation.

I have started leaving the light and fan on for about 15 minutes after I shower, as suggested by another web site. The fan really doesn't seem to do much while I'm showering, but I still use it.

I did buy some post-shower spray, at least that will keep the rest of the shower clean even if it doesn't kill my mold.

Dude, post-shower spray is just maintenance. You need to actually get down on your hands and knees with some scrubber sponges and some Clorox, and CLEAN the damn thing. It will only take you 15 minutes, max. You'll be surprised to see your tub actually shiny again, too. I bet it looks like a matte finish right now... lol.

no no no...I said in an earlier post that I already did clean it with Clorox.

The spray is just maintenance now.

Get some tub and tile cleaner, spray it on, let it sit for 10 minutes, spray off with water. Then get some Red Bull and get motivated, young man!
