Lightbulb First Impressions: People who use cars as part or in whole as their username

In light of a funny @ss comment I saw that all users with names containing "WRX" should be removed from NASIOC....

Do you guys have a negative impression of people who have a car manufacturer, model, or trimline as their name?

Personally my first impression is LAME (i.e. = my sense of self worth is tied into what I drive), but I've met quite a few people (perhaps they're just uncreative? at account sign-up time) who are actually pretty decent despite their tool-sounding car-based usernames.

I like mine because it's a blend of creativity and appreciation for something great. People need to learn how to be more original though.

i like mine. grrr....

at first glance, PhlypSide conjures up images of someone posting altezzas, plug wires, and window tint percentage as their mods in their sig (if we had them)...

but yeah, there's a point where it's just silly...how many 'WRXtreme' or 'WRXtacy' names are there on this board?

"I like cars in usernames"

EDIT: how come you removed your post asking me to give examples of some other poll choices that would be positive?

Question ?QUE?

Eric???

Did the choice below not fit your opinion on the topic?

"They are okay, some people are uncreative."

If not, what do you think would have been other "positive" options.

[EDIT: I was re-editing that post as I think what I have just said here is more to the point]

Calling people "uncreative" is positive? While I don;t like all of them, some of them are very creative.

I think it's short-sighted. You look like a n00b when you buy a new car and it no-longer matches your name.

Calling someone uncreative with their username is hardly a measure of their total creativity, but it could be a hint.

Not everyone can be creative, so it is neither a diss nor props. Aesthetic creativity can be seen as a neutral aspect in many situations.

Like I said in my original post, I've met people who have moved beyond the initial negative impression caused by their lame car-name.

I'm teh most uncreative person ever, in tha my username is the same one that I was assigned as an undergrad at Alabama. Never have bothered to change it, cause I'd probably forget the new one.

I don't know of any car model or manufacturer "RaceCarRiot". I think your name is much more creative than *WRX* or *2.5RS* or *RS* (the asterisks are wildcards indicating whatever "cleverness" the user can conjure before or after WRX, 2.5RS, or RS, okay 'RS' in an obvious reference to Impreza RS).

I have a car-based username, but very few people make the connection since I'd estimate (unscientifically) that > 95% of the people here have never seen the car. If that makes me lame, so be it.

Uncreative != negative (unless we're in some sort of invention or artistic contest).

Which option did you pick? I voted for:

They are confusing and not as distinctive as the user thinks they are.

lateRZ

PS: Define uncreative.

I didn't vote.

I will not define uncreative for you. But if you wish, you can try to use the word uncreative in a positive context in a sentence.

You, by your own explanation then, are 95% LESS lame, by the sheer obscurity of the car you are referencing. Obscurity = teh cool.

Seriously, what the h#ll is a Lark 6? [Teach us!]

I didn't say it was positive or negative, we assign and tint comparitive value to the term. I think uncreative is neutral, but can most certainly be used as a jab (although I didn't intend it as such).

"That bowl of jelly is uncreative."
"That sterile lab rat is uncreative, well not really it can urinate and defecate."
"Money is uncreative."
