Impreza WRX STi employs a new Suretrac® limited-slip front differential and a mechanical limited-slip rear differential. The Suretrac differential is a gearless unit that responds to a torque differential between left and right wheels to increase traction and reduce understeer.

I read in Evo that the STI with the twin scroll turbo does not produce the same boxer exhaust note that Subaru is known for, so I am glad there is no twin scroll.

Who wants a Scooby that sounds like a Honda.

I found this:

Quote:
The Suretrac Diff. is made by AP Racing. The same company as the big
brake
kits and performance clutches.

I have AP's catalogue in front of my and I will tell you what it says;

- Excellent packaging results in a direct replacement for the open
differential.
- Proven durability on road, road simulation and race track.
- Senses torque, does not require prior wheel slip
- Operates in conventional lubricants including ATF.
- Constant performance with respect to speed, torque, and temp.
- ABS compatible
- Supplementary to, and compatible with, electronic traction control

".. The suretrac device itself sustains differential torque across
driven
axles and directs the greatest torque to the tire with the best grip,
offering improved differential action particularly in adverse conditions
with
enhance handling and cornering"
" Suretrac utilizes an arrangement of opposing cams and followers which
enables the device to transmit whatever unequil torque the tire contacts
can
withstand, upto a torque limiting ratio set by the design"

Hope this helps you guys out,

That is good. Consider it like having a posi in the rear and a mechanical (kazz type much stronger than the torsen types) in the rear. It should make for a mean handler that can put the power down big time.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that the purpose of the twin scroll was to help the turbo spool up a little quicker, thereby reducing the amount of loss at the low end. Since the 2.5 hits its peak torque at only 4,000 rpm, it would seem as if that problem is taken care of, assuming that the low end between 0 and 4000 rpm is as impressive as it sounds like on paper.

I think the 2.5L will take care of the apparently lack of torque down low.... so really no need for twin-scroll turbo?
