nitsuj's sleeved destroker build
Figured at this point I'm due to start one of these...now that my block should almost be on its way and I'm almost to a turbo decision... UPDATE: Turbo decision made
short block: MPS destroke 2.34L Benson sleeved case 75mm crank Custom JE 9:1 Pistons, cermaic coated crowns, tool steel pins MPS Super H-Beam Long Rods Blueprinted and Balanced MPS Modded 10mm Oil Pump EJ20 Waterpump KillerB Pickup, Pan, Baffle Heads: B25 Castings Headgames Full Port Bronze Valve Guides Ferrea Dual Springs Ferrea Comp Plus Valves GSC S2 272/272 Single AVCS Cams ARP 625+ Headstuds 2.5i long runner manifold Outfront Rails ID2000 Injectors Fuelab FPR Dual Bosch 044's, Radium Surge Tank AMS FMIC Core, Custom piping Tial BOV Omni 3.5bar MAP AEM IAT Cobb AP (already running SD) Ball Bearing 6266 CEA2 BeanFab Rotated Kit KillerB 2bolt Holy Header P&L Spec Exedy Triple PPG built 6spd (dog 1-4, stock 5&6), suretrac diff, billet forks, etc, etc shimmed/plated built r180 DSS CF Drive Shaft DSS Level Pro-Level Rear Axles Today I'm on UR's gt3076r kit w/ EL Headers, on a completely stock motor running stong, but its time to go bigger so the turbo setup is getting a change too... I still have to get the manifold 'ready' (plug holes, etc) and run the fuel lines for that and make a decision on fuel pump If all goes well, hopefully the car will be together and breaking in early January...

Sounds like a nice build! There are quite a few destrokers going together right now! I'm ready to see some results, you have any turbos your leaning towards?

Thanks! I was just reading yours and I hear the gtx3076 is a fun turbo! I was looking at gtx35/hta82/6266 but I'm starting to lean even more towards a 6466, I was going to try to stay with a garret turbo since I have ultimate racings rotated kit, but anything bigger than a 35 sized turbo and the pte stuff seems to do better

Well this is a very similar parts list of what I am building now, I'm just not sure if I am going to be using the +2mm rods that I planned.
I'll be staying with the GT30 though. |

4 of us, don't forget me. You and I have the +4 mm and the other two are +2 mm. I should be on the dyno within a week or two with a 91 octane and racegas tune. Turbo kit is Full Race EFR 7670 TS.

Thanks! I can't wait!
I've been busy, but here's an update... My 2.5i manifold is almost ready, it's being powdercoated after some EGR removal and smoothing...you can see that here: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...php?p=41239910 I'm a few things short of this thing landing in my car for break-in...and then ~2 weeks ago I picked up something for the motor (which only has 11k miles on it) and 05 tranny, etc to go into...an FXT...which will become my daily driver, it needs a PS Pump (which I have), it has a coolant leak, I'll find that on a warm day and has low compression in 1 cyl...guessing ringland failure I've gotten lost in the sea of parts coming in and trying to figure out what else I'm waiting for and what I need to buy, etc. Our normal UPS driver now says hi to my wife in the supermarket...she thinks he might be coming to our house too much...I say nonsense, its just a good way to ensure he doesn't abuse my car parts |

With that y-block, it looks like you're planning on running a parallel fuel line routing.
Ask Dominic or look around this section for the thread on why that's a really bad idea. |

I honestly haven't decided on whether I'm running parallel or series...I'm thinking series, and just have the means to go to parallel if needed with out having to wait on parts |

I think we're due for an update here...I've been busy with other stuff and haven't been able to spend a ton of time on car stuff...
Since the last, I have made all the brackets for the FPR and my vacuum block and those just need to get coated, which I'll likely drop them off this weekend. A decision on the turbo setup has been made, the kit was finalized yesterday and should be materializing soon, we decided to ultimately go with a 6266, with my motor/setup, and this turbo setup, going to a 6466 would just add lag for maybe 20-40whp up top, if I wanted to go with bigger, stronger studs and o-rings now, then I could make good use out of a 6466, maybe when I get bored of the power a 6266 will bring me I'll go that route. The details of the kit, I can't talk about right now, but I will share them when the time comes that I can...kind of like a unicorn...it exists, but it doesn't, you can imagine it but at least for now you wont see it, no horns, rainbows, or anything that would make it not cool... If all goes well, in a week the car will be getting torn down...stay tuned Last edited by nitsuj; 01-28-2014 at 06:26 AM. |
