Default Getting ready for WRX Swap, QUESTION!

Will my 2.5i transmission hold up to the WRX engine? With a clutch upgrade? I know this is the wrong forum, but i know it will get some traffic here.

If there is another thread addressing this please direct me to it, i may be retarded but search function did not bring results.

What I will be doing is purchasing a used WRX engine, Has 35,000 miles on it, from there i will be installing new gaskets, and going through the valvetrain. Along with installing an Garrett 18g. I will be switching over the ECU and switching out the exhaust. It is going to be a project but thats why i own a Jeep!

And my buddy with a nasty fast bugeye is helping me haha

Engine from my buddies 2006 wrx, 2.5 liter. No turbo and needed new rings on piston 2. He swapped up to a STi, i am awaiting the O.K. to go grab the engine and start work on it. Also I will need to purchase an ECU along with wiring harness.

Call Subaru and cross check part numbers on the trans with an 07 WRX. It seems like my buddies WRX has different gearing. If they are different, I wouldn't launch it.

you'll be fine just upgrade the clutch the stock will work but will go out before the wrx stock does ohh and the clutch's are different so you want to order a clutch for the tranny not engine bud....as for tranny same tranny casing better gears in the 2.5i than the wrx its either the 2.5i or the sti tranny gears that are great..your gona be fine launching with slipping the clutch its geared lower so you'll spool up and always been your boost range as for rebuilding the engine put some sleeves in it and you'll be golden but yeahthat should help you on your quest don't buy a WRX clutch get a stage two impreza 2.5i mounting clutch again there not the same;.
