Although Subaru is working with Toyota to develop hybrid technology, the automaker will introduce diesels-powered vehicles to the market first, company officials announced. Europe is slated to get diesel-powered Subarus beginning next year — shortly after the diesels are debuted at the 2008 Geneva auto show — but the automaker has no immediately plans to bring the engines to the U.S. It's possible the U.S. market could have to wait until 2012 to get the new diesels.
“There are many opinions. But currently, the voices calling for diesels are stronger than the voices for hybrids,” Ikuo Mori, president of Subaru parent company Fuji Heavy Industries, told Automotive News Europe. Although diesels are the automakers top priority, Subaru will continue to develop its hybrid technology with Toyota. “We agreed with Toyota to utilize the Toyota system in developing our own hybrid technology,” Mori said. “Fundamentally speaking, we can’t just plunk Toyota’s system into our own vehicles. We need to develop something that is adjusted to our products.” Mori failed to give a time frame for when Subaru will have hybrids on the market but did say the company would wait until lithium-ion battery technology is perfected. General Motors hopes to have lithium-ion vehicles by 2010, so expect Subaru to introduce its hybrid technology after that, possibly around the same time the U.S. will get Subaru's diesel vehicles. In addition to hybrid technology, Subaru and Toyota are also beleived to be co-developing a new sports car for the Japanese market. http://www.leftlanenews.com/subaru-t...f-hybrids.html

For the LOVE OF GOD, PEOPLE!
There is nothing wrong with the wheels. You are seeing visual distortion from the crappy camera in the guy's phone doing a sequential capture from top to bottom, and the spokes spinning away from the scan direction as it captures. AGAIN, THE WHEELS ARE NOT ACTUALLY SHAPED LIKE THAT. |

The real kicker is that they are just the normal Legacy GT/2.5i wheels.

I'm gonna disagree. There is a reason somebody took that picture, and I'm willing to bet it wasnt the scoop alone. no reason to get angry anyways.

OK SO; can we all at least agree the wheels aren't really like that and their appearance in the pic is caused by the camera?
IBnowecantcuzitsfuntoargueabout. Think it's one of these from the Edmunds article? |

Even still why are only two spokes visualy distorted? In both example pics the visual distortion appears across the board-all prop blades are bent. In this legacy shot only two spokes are bent. Its still weird , regardless.

Debil's Advocate, but the fender flares do look bigger then the ones we saw on the car last year .....
Maybe they are testing out the new DSG we keep hearing about for the 2010 STi and just kept it in the same mule? Or even crazier a new leggy drivetrain for the 2010 redesign |

Don't know the dimensions of the 08 Impreza nor the 09STi but the LegGT and -07 STi isn't compatible hence no LegGT's running tranny swaps.

If the wheels are messed up due to the camera's scanning, why are the lug nuts and the valve stem on that side not messed up, too? I'm not trying to start another conspiracy theory here, just asking to verify...

Because of basic high school physics. The outermost parts of the wheel spokes are the most distorted because they are moving faster than the lug nuts. The valve stems are not moving in the the same direction, in relation to the scan or shutter direction of the camera, as the spokes that are warped. It's nothing else other than a photographic anomoly. |

Looks like half 6 or 7 spoke and two spokes from the OEM wheels split to balance the weight. That is definately not a normal wheel with rotational distortion.
