HipToBeSquare,
Thanks for all the great info. My initial reaction on the LED was to pass for now and go for some Yellow Hella fog lamp bulbs like I've done on past Subaru's. They work well with no need for wire splices or film.

But I really appreciate the detailed info you provided.

No problem.

And I didn't mean to say that what you have planned is 0% effective, it just isn't as optimized as LEDs could potentially be, if designed from the outset.

If you can get a bulb replacement with lots of yellow-frequency emitters arranged closely, and pointing in radial angles, as well as directly forward, it still may work acceptably through yellow film, and the yellow film becomes a matter of taste when the lights are off.

Something like this 9006/HB4 LED replacement might work acceptably. (if 2014 uses that bulb, as previous did)

2014 fogs are h16 with h11 fitment. I bought a set of h16 did not fit since the socket is an h11.

Well according to the TFLcar guys, the XT is a nice car except the stock tires suck if you are driving in the snow or driving on an offroad trail (which is obvious). Secondily, the infotainment system seems like it sucks big time. Too bad Subaru still can't seem to get this right.

Tl;dr, if you will be doing extensive winter driving in snow get snow tires. Going to be going off-roading, get off-road specific tires. Buy a new infotainment system.

Yeah - first bit of research I did was on the tires - looks like overpriced garbage comes stock. I'll do my best to burn through 'em fast on the tarmac.

They're designed to meet EPA fuel economy standards and that's about it.

And probably to cost the least to buy in bulk for factory stock.

Looks good, but why CF wrap? I would have done matte black but I guess that's just me.

I think it looks good and OEM-ish. It's subtle and better than chrome.

I tried matte black but I was trying to avoid a murdered out look. Plus the idea of plastidiping and matte black seemed like it would blend too much with black. I actually didn't want black cf I was going to go a gunmetal wrap/ or a lighter cf vinyl.

My friend said it didn't look too bad since they give it a textured feel.

Good choice - the CF gives it depth, and breaks it up, which a black car needs.

Looks great. There are right ways and wrong ways to murder out a car and most folks don't have the smarts to do it right and it ends up looking like ass.

Yea Like i'm trying to plastidip the wheels but the black all blacked out might not work. Going to see how some black dip and gold metalalizer comes out. Its for fun till I can get a decent drop then a good set of wheels.

Just saw one of these 2014's in person on the road last night.

Clearly....subaru's target market could care less how un-inspiring and flat out bargin bin generic their cars look.

What a complete f'n waste of a platform.

I've been a Subaru loyalist for 16 years now....and have held my breath for them to produce something for me to buy. (would be my 4th)

All of the recent forester XT's (I have a 2004 XT) that I remotely liked or thought that I could sex up....did not come with a manual. Mind numbing stupidity.

I've waited for them to produce an Legacy STI or equivelent to compete with the entry BWI / Audi's. Nothing buy crickets and downgrades from Subaru.

If those spy shots of the WRX are anything close to what the 2014 looks like, then it looks like I'm finally done. I have to buy a new car in this year....and can no longer justify spending my Money on such a souless looking vehicle that has no identity.

Oh well.....Change is good. Audi's AWD is decent......but I'll just have to save a few more pennies.

If it wasn't for Subaru, Bridgestone would not be able to sell any of their garbage tires.

lcrazyaznl, thanks for info regarding the bulbs, but I was actually curious about removing the plastic around the fog light. I would like to de-chrome the surround. I'm assuming is just pulls out from the front, but there's nothing to pull on.

I took this little tool to the sides of the fog light surrounds:

they pop right out EASILY.

Nice - woot!

I've got my VIN and they said 5/6 for delivery, but every time they've given a date on these '14 Foresters, they've shown up a week or more early.
I'm going to call right now to pester again. I'm dyin' - the wait's killin' me!

They have gotten truckloads full almost every single day this week.

It's close - I can feel it!

EDIT: Dammit. Not in yet.

I wonder if yours come from the port in RI too. If so it could just be on the truck in transit. Fingers crossed for you!
