Difference between C16 and Cam2 112
I am getting tuned by PDX this weekend. I am going to have a daily driver pump gas map (via ECUTek) and a race gas map (via UTEC). I was curious if anyone knew the difference between C16 and Cam2 112 leaded. Is C16 going to make 30+whp over the Cam2 or is it going to only be a few horsepower? Has anyone out there played with both fuels?
Main reason I'm asking is because, Cam2 is ~$20 for 5 gallons and C16 is ~$60 for 5 gallons and I'm going to be using the stuff quite frequently during the summer for auto-x. So if there isn't much of a difference in whp, I'll just save my money and use the Cam2.

....depends on your hardware....but tuning for the Cam2 isn't gonna cost ya 30hp unless ya getting the ragged edge kind of tune, anyway

With that turbocharger it probably will amount to around 25 whp less. You are really limited on ignition timing with that fuel comparerd to C16. I've had good luck with Sunoco Optimal 116 (I believe) when C16 is not available.

CAM2 = Generic name for Sunoco products where Sunoco brand name cannot be used.
Code:
VP C-16 MON = 117 Sunoco Maximal MON = 114 ( High rpm, sunoco's fastest burn rate) Sunoco Maximal #5 MON = 113 Oxygenated Sunoco Supreme N.O.S. MON = 113 ( high lead blend) Sunoco MX-114 MON = 110 Sunoco Supreme MON = 110 Sunoco Stealth MON = 110 If you can get any literature on the fuel such as its color, oxygen content and specific gravity you could probably pin down what blend it is. Maximal 118 that's it
Run whatever you have available and whatever you consider affordable. Just don't expect to break any dyno records with it. I can run my C16 map on 110 with water/alcohol injection and it’s more than ½ as expensive as C16. When doing track days I can burn through 20 gallons of race gas. Phil www.elementtuning.com |

Sunoco supreme is blue and has an R+M/2 octane of 112, MON of 109 and Ron of 115.
I would guess that is what it is. Sunoco's GT + unleaded is also light blue, but has an R+M/2 octane of 104 Larry |
