Default Cylinder block question

Guys i have 1.6 impreza and iam thinking about installing 2.0 block . How much would it improve the power and do u think it would be a good idea and finally would it take alot of time and effort ?

I'm assuming you're not from the US since we never got a 1.6 here. One of the more utilized options like that here, is putting a 2.5 block under our stock 2.2 heads. This garners up a lot higher compression ratio, and around 200hp at the crank if done right. It's a good amount of work to do, but not as bad as a swap. I don't see why you couldn't put a 2.0 block under your 1.6 heads and have a similar result as far as power over stock.

Thx for the reply yes im outside us . Concerning the block do i need any thing else ? I mean brake upgrade or wiring or any thing related to the ecu

Knowing the model year, model & country of origin may help.

My guess would be "No", most of the wiring is in/on the intake & heads, thus swapping them onto another shortblock "fixes" most of those issues.

But, this is a guess until we have a bit more info.

Well i have 07 impreza and i'm from Egypt and like i said it has the ej16 which never came to us
The block will be from a 2.0r engine which is dohc while mine is sohc
