Exclamation WRX for $400 over invoice!

This is my 3rd time posting this..so my hands are tired
But Garrick and I found a dealer in Victor NY (near rochester) that is charging $400 over invoice for a WRX. No BS. They are the biggest dealer in the country and sell on volume, so they can afford to do this.
Neways... www.vanbortelsubaru.com
Speak with Diana, and tell her that Garrick or I (keith) told u about it. Cancel ur orders at ur dealers charging sticker price!
I feel like a little kid..I want my wrx already

Thumbs up

Yep, this ain't no joke. I also bought my RS from them for $400 over without negotiating... basically waltzed right in & said "I'll take that one." I know other club members that have purchased cars from them & have also been happy.

It's not on their website yet - they still have prices for the 2001's.

Nobody has invoice information yet, but they have committed to selling for $400 over invoice, whatever that may be.

I wonder what it would cost to ship it from NY to the Midwest....

Probably not worth it, by the time all is said and done - I need to find a dealer willing to do that around here!!

If anyone knows of other dealers doing this in the Central US, please post!!

You'd have to ask them that, & if it's even possible or not.

Usually, you can pre-order from a dealer, and agree to take delivery of the car at another dealership. You'd pay a little added destination, but compared to the costs of shipping the car cross country youself, well worth it.

Lightbulb

Subaru has a 2% dealer holdback so the dealer will make 2% of the retail price + the 400 over invoice. So they will make about 900 dollars if they sell at that price

He is saying invoice, not MSRP.

However, I've noticed that many manufacturers are closing the gap b/t invoice and MSRP due to the fact everybody can find invoice on the Net. i.e, the 99 Legacy GT I looked at had a $5000 gap between invoice and sticker, but the 99 300M was only about $1900 difference. I think the new Legacy's have a smaller differential.

Illmatic,
The Bay Area I-Club has a group buy getting together, visit the Bay Area section and get the details. A flight to SF is a lot cheaper than shipping cross country

Van Bortel sells all of their cars at $400 over invoice. That is below MSRP. I bought my car from them and had a great experience. I had to have my car custom ordered (they didn't have any '00 silverthorn rs sedans) and everything went smoothly.

There is a reason they are the #1 in the country.....A buddy of mine was looking at getting one and I think he got it for $200 over invoice from them.. I'll have to check on that.

There is a $2200 difference between invoice and MSRP for a new Legacy 2.5GT Limited, if that helps. If Subie Gal doesn't think that's a big difference, ok, but I think it is!

Has anybody else locked in a better deal yet?

Tomas, I checked their website & it looks like they're selling Foresters & Imprezas for $300 over, so it looks like they've dropped their prices on those models.

I realize that they're still making a lot of money including the dealer holdback. But it seems that demand for this car is driving prices to the MSRP range, and $400 over invoice is much less than that. Plus, even if there wasn't a big demand for this car, I would still buy from Van Bortel because of the painless buying experience. Sure, I may be able to get a car for $100 cheaper from some sleazy-ass dealer, but why would I want to give them my money?

As I was saying in a number of other threads regarding price gouging and paying MSRP.Don't do it! The WRX has not even been delivered yet and a dealer is ready to make a reasonable deal. There will be lots of others and in every state. If not, DROP SHIP! Go back and search my posts regarding price negotiating etc. If you don't and pay MSRP, it is your own fault for not listening:>

Subie Gal: Why would you want to pay MSRP when you could get it for less? That's the big deal

Actually the #1 dealership in the US for Subaru is in Colorado not NY. The dealership that you are talking about is #1 in their region however, just thought I would clarify.
