so i like this mod, and i wanna do it, but im thinking with mione since its a paprike red pearlescent body, lay down a coat of glow paint for the main star, then go in and paint purple 3m reflective paint for the stars, then spray on some touch up paint for the base, so when its in sunlight its purple, when headlights hit it, its reflective and pruple, when its pitch black out.... all you see is the star.... what do you guys think

Has anyone tried using Krylon Fusion plastic paint? I have a bottle of white and black laying around and was thinking about giving it a try. Here's what it looks like...

I was initially going to do the face on the front badge and a rear end with tail on the rear, but got lazy.

hey ratfink, can you describe the process? what sandpaper did u use and how did you not sand off the silver?
also did you take it right out while the grill was still on? some people are saying that if you heat the badge up from the front it will ruin the emblem so im scared to actually try this, what safe way do you suggest popping the emblem out? |

I will revive the Pedo Bear! This has inspired me. My car came with a debadged sports grill, so I just want to cover the holes.

Sittin on the couch right now with my front, a box of q-tips, some brake cleaner (cheap buzz ) and a bottle of pearl white finger nail polish. Pics when complete.
Edit: Ok, after hours of scrubbing with brake cleaner (as goo gone was makin no headway) and wet sanding and carefully painting... I have come to the conclusion that it is time to buy a new badge... might post pics, from a ways back, with a soft focus. Last edited by NCORWRX; 05-08-2010 at 03:43 AM. |

Great writeup, I followed the steps but I gotta say getting the chrome out was the biggest PITA ever. Took me a few hours but here is the final result, I matched the badge to the two-tone paint on the rest of the car. (Sorry for the crappy pics)

I just took my badges off like 2mins ago. Anyone else damage the crome piece around the plastic badge?
Update: Took me a day cleanest I could get I know there are still some chrome spots but plan on taking off paint again and redoing it. This time with paint thinner. Last edited by djinn; 05-19-2010 at 10:51 PM. |
