Cars with obd 2 dont get a sniffer. They only check codes and gas cap.

Louie, that was me giving you the "wasup" head nod from the silver POS corolla on Airport during lunch, my dirty bitch is down right now till my clutch comes in finally. FYI, since you looked a little weirded out by the Yota driver saying hi.

Tomorrow we are having a Barbecue for the EPAWD Meet. CrackFiend I know you were offering your place but I never received a call/text from you to set everything up. Check your post on EPAWD so I can let everyone know and we can get a pretty good sized meet/bbq tomorrow.

Anybody here replace their own clutch using the remove driveshaft & slide tranny back method? Going to be attempting this on Saturday at the base shop. Any tips would be appreciated.

I have. I use ratcheting tie down straps to support the transmission. Works pretty well. I split the driveshaft in the middle so that I don't have to drain the oil.

So you split the driveshaft near the center diff or this another spot where it is bolted together and I need to pay more attention to the undercarriage? Thanks for the ratchet strap tip, that's a rather ingenious idea.

It splits at the carrier in the center. You'll see a 4 bolt flange. You'll need to take the carrier down too. Then just let that section of the shaft hang.

Alright, cool, seems simple enough. Thanks again, I'll let you know how it goes. Oh, and what do you hook the ratchet straps too?

I did mine on a garage floor in the middle of winter. So if you can get a trans jack that would help a lot. I removed the entire drive shaft and didn't have any fluid leak. I don't know if your tranny has the pin that holds the release bearing fork that needs to be removed or you will not be able to get the tranny out.

So I take it you are not going to resurface the flywheel.

Mad props to our resident godfather here in El Paso, Abel, for helping me out immensely. Abel pulled some strings and got me a new clutch, installed, for almost free. Now I'm back to riding "dirty" or will be, once I find a dirty mud puddle again. Damned rainlessness, though she does look pretty clean.

Definitely good to have Abel in your corner, great guy, and tries to help as much as he can! Now I just gotta get ahold of the dude I bought the used clutch from and get a refund and return the thing to him. Abel informed me it's in worse condition than my ****ed up original one. Oh, and I owe Abel a sixer of his favorite brewskis.
