Thumbs up A Good and Bad Day

Just re-posting what I put in the Canada Forum.

Well first the bad news.

I had to replace the Legacy GT rims back on my wife's car tonight Now my RS looks like all the others.

Good News!!!

I installed the PDM Racing Intake this afternoon. I had about twenty minutes to spare so I decided to see how quickly I could install the intake. The wind was really blowing here today and a high of maybe 4C, but felt more like -4C. Anyway, I removed the three bolts that Ashton told me to remove and then quickly reefed on the end connecting to the 90 before the filter box. The whole plastic intake thingy came off in three seconds.

Next, I cut the blue 1/2" silicon hosing on one side so it would slip over the lip in the hole in the fender. Placed the hosing over the hole lip then placed the silicon 2" to 3" adapter on to the filter box elbow and then stuck the PDM 3" Aluminun intake into the fender hole and pushed it over to the silcon adapter then fastended everything up.

Next I disconnected the battery terminals held the two ends together for about 30 seconds (for a quicky ECU reset) and then put the terminals back on.

Whole thing from start to finish took MAYBE 15 minutes with one rachet, 10mm socket, 12mm socket, one 12" socket extension, screw driver, and an exacto knife to slice the 1/2" silcon hose on one side.

Car started with no problem, no effect on idle quality whatsoever. Let the car idle for about 3 minutes then drove the car.

First impression about the intake?

YEEEEEEHAAAAAAA!!!!

What a fantastic melody this thing makes. At less than half throttle, it sounds total stock no matter what the RPM. Do a few WOT pulls above 3000rpm, however, and the sound under the hood is simply astounding. I think my favourite is a WOT pull in third gear going from 4000rpm to 5500rpm...simply glorious!!! What a hoot!!! I only hope it sounds this way from the outside of the car.

My butt dyno tells me no loss and no gain, but the car definately makes me grin that much more. If you have a MY00 or MY01, you have GOT to get this intake.

Thanks PDM Racing!!!!

Chris,

End-links go in tomorrow. Rear SB mounts will go in when the Whiteline 18-22mm bar comes in (hopefully soon). The front lower control arm bushings will go in when I install the Whiteline Anti-Lift Kit. Give me a call on my cell on tomorrow, maybe we'll get together for a quick coffee. Take you for a spin in my new sounding monster.

Cheers,
MB
