Does anyone else cut his/her own hair?
I started cutting my own hair about 2 years ago. I keep it short, so it's fairly easy to do with clippers only, no scissors required, and it only takes 10-15 minutes.
I figure I've saved a couple hundred bucks over the last couple of years, but more than that, I've saved having to drive to a barber, wait in line, drive home. Wheeeeee....

I've cut mine more or less since I was 15. I use clippers only as well and cut mine about every two weeks.

I used to use a shaver and take it all off... then get my ex to clean up the sides and back.
Now the only hair I cut myself grows around my junk. |

I've been doing it for about a year now. #2 clipper, trim around the ears. I have my wife touch up in the back...hard to get that right DIY

Not yet. But when the bald spot gets large enough that its time for it to all come off, you bet your ass I'll do it myself.

I use to do this. It's hard to cut your own hair, because you can't see behind you. let alone everything in the mirror is backwards.

I've gotten to be pretty good at it. I just use a handheld mirror and look into the bathroom mirror to do the back. I even fade it and use a small trimmer to go around the edges.

I shaved my scalp for a year and used clipless clipper for a few years before that. Now I have a bet with a co-worker that I won't cut it at all until after Thanksgiving of 2009. I last shaved it 2 weeks before this year's Thanksgiving.
Question: how long will my hair be in almost exactly a year growing starting from the scalp? |

I wish I could cut my own hair. I read somewhere that George Clooney cuts his own hair.

Just takes some practice. I do a #7 on the top, tapering down to a #2 around the bottom (I use 6, 4, and 3 in between to blend it so there isn't a hard line between the different levels).

no amount of practice will help you cut a straight, level line across the back of your neck. For that, you need a second set of hands and eyes.
I do #2 all over and step down to #1 at the back and around the ears....makes the wife's job easier (though sometimes I just hit the back with a razor in the shower...not perfect but too short to matter much) |

I started cutting my friend's hair since I was about 12. Started out with simple cuts, like high and tight and #1, 2, or 3 all the way around. But now I can do some tight fades (temple fade, low fade, Philly fade, Brooklyn fade), blow-outs, tape ups, and line ups. I use to cut alot of guy's hair when I joined the military and I still occasionally cut friend's hair upon request. (I usually charge $5).
