Finally I got the chance to max out my car.
I went to a place where I could try to figure out some sort of top speed, and I buried the needle and was running over 5500 rpms and could feel the car continue to pull for a while. I drive a MY01 RS with only an Apexi N1 exhaust and a K&N intake. I was just wondering if anyone has an idea of what speed I could have topped off at? I know it must be impossible to say for sure but I just wanted to know if anyone had an guess.
Thanks, Oh, and I had a half tank of 94... It felt alot better than driving with that 89.. dont know if it matters though PEACE OUT...........

You can figure out the speed yourself. There are calculators online to use. 4.11 is your rear end ratio. not sure what 5th gear ratio is but you can find that online also. find our what height your tire is. then, plug the numbers in and that gives your speed.
Also, the feeling of it being better than using 89 was all in your mind because all else being equal, more octane gives you less horsepower. Next time, don;t go that fast on an open road Eric |

So is it safe to say that my car could hit 130 mph if I hadn't had a big(6 foot 3) friend of mine riding with me? I just wanted to know what to tell people after I convince them that my car is a Subaru and they ask " How fast can it go?"
Again thanks, and if anyone could help me out by giving me more info about this whole, figure out the speed with gear ratios and tire height thing I would be very thankful cause thats new to me. PEACE OUT.............. |

Weight has nothing to do with top-speed, well, it is negligable at best anyway.
and at those speeds, to gain speed, the horsepower has to be increased almost exponentially to gain more speed. We had a 1000hp open road race vette and went from about 210mph with the sideview mirrors on to almost 230mph with them pulled off. The Subaru's drag co-effecient has a lot to do with the top speed |

Chode_boy, who the hell cares how fast the car can go. If someone is dum enough to ask that question they don't deserve an answer. Rarley, if ever will you ever max out your cars speed and if you do it's dum and probably illegal. People should be more concerned and 0-60, 1/4 mile and auto-x times. Those numbers show a car and a drivers true performance capabilities. |

If I mentioned autocross where I live people would think I was just a Jesus freak. Say something about a tractor pull on the other hand and suddenly everyones full of information. It sucks....
