Just ordered ddm tuning 6000k 55watt since my 35watt wasn't bright at all in my 2010 wrx. Thanks for the post, I was having problems finding a way to mount the ballasts. My last ballast broke because it was next to the battery I'm thinking. Gonna do 3000k in the fogs next. Never been flashed at. There is an ******* in my town with a 2 foot by 1 foot led screen on the front of his super duty compensation truck that pisses everybody off. So my set is nothing compared to that.

Just my two cents I have installed DDM kits in several motorcycles and cars and have never hand any issues. Two of my own vehicles are going on 3 years and still going strong. They have one of the best kits u can get for the price.
Note: get a stepped drill bit it makes drilling the hole in the cover clean and painless |

a buddy of mine has had his ddm kit for 2 years now in his '11 wrx and it still works. no complaints. no harsh remarks from anyone. ive seen his car in person and ive driven infront of him at night. seems normal to me, and ive seen ton of camrys and corollas with bright ass hids that really bothered me. what ive realized is our '11+ cars are modern enough that people who see them with hids just think its oem xenons (not counting those 1billionK blurpple hids). seeing the '11+ wrx with regular ol halogens also makes it seem so outdated in looks. and im talking about the overall aesthetics of the car, not how well the hids or halogens shine on the road. i rode passenger in my friends '13 sti at night and those stock xenons or whatever it has really complemented the overall look of the car. i can really tell since when we were cruising on the highway, a '11+ wrx drove by us with its stock halogens.. didnt realize how odd that looked in our cars.
Now, what im looking for is something slightly brighter, like 4300k or maybe 5000k. however, reading through all the posts about how to properly retrofit the headlights while spending hundreds of dollars.. at that point its not worth it for me. Id rather be spending performance related parts like track pads or sway bars.. but for about $40 for this kit, might as well try it out and see how that goes. |

So, back from the dead, I'll come in with an update. It's been about 4 years since I first installed the set of DDM Slim Ballest set with 5k lights and they worked fine up until 8 months ago. Initially I thought it was the bulb that had died but it turned out to be one of the ballests. DDM exchanged the part as stated in their warranty without issue, except it took about 1.5 months to get it. Otherwise, the experience has been great considering I spent $55 for the initial kit.
The light output is better than the stock bulbs but not as good as a factory-installed HID kit. However, I've never been flashed or complained on as far as the look and other drivers are concerned. I'm sure I'll get my lights fitted with a proper kit in the next year or two, but for now I'm all set. Sent from my SM-N900V using NASIOC mobile app |
