Default Help with JBL MS-8 install on 2012 impreza sport premium

Hey guys, brand new here on the forum and just purchased a JBL MS-8 to put in my car.

Im not technical at all with car audio and im trying to get all the info for my friend so when he does the install, he has all the info he needs to complete the install.

Main questions he asked,

Is a full frequency signal sent to the front speakers in the stock setup?

whats the best location to pass 4 gauge wire in the firewall. Is there an existing grommet, or drill location?

Any info would be much appreciated and thanks for understanding these questions.

and if anyone has done this install before, any advice would be awesome.

thanks

Gene

Yes. Take a look at the tweeters when you pull out the speakers they have uF capacitors to filter out the low frequencies.

Depends on what you consider "best". I know of 2 ways to run your power cable. Take your pick.
The way I did it in my thread.... "this is inside the drivers fender well"

The other way is to go through the grommet on the passenger side just behind the turbo.... err... where the turbo "would" be. There's pics of the other way in here somewhere... just search the other stereo build threads.

I'm working on my own myself. I just haven't gotten to the point of hooking it up yet. As for tips and trick for this thing go here:
http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/...processor.html
The thread can be a bit overwhelming as its over 300pgs, but there is a ton of good information on this thing in there.

I like to use waterproof grommets. I drill a hole and then I primer/paint the hole so it doesn't rust.

Where do you plan on mounting the JBL? I have mine under the passenger seat with the headphone jack pointing out so I have access to it if need retuning. I also mounted the screen into my ash tray since I do not smoke and it looks awesome and stealthy when the cover goes back up. Right now I am running two Alpine PDXF4 both mounted under drivers seat, JBL MS8, Hybrid Audio 3 way up front, working on center channel right now, custom box and a Focal polyglass 11". I will be picking up another Alpine, hopefully a PDXF6. Make own RCAs if you can as well. Make it the right length and not have to worry about coiling extras

The Dealer still has my car, I have a loaner and I cannot even remember what my STOCK radio looks like. I am waiting to get my car back, so I can order my parts from SVXDC and get the ball rolling. he needs my radio number so he can add some extra wires that I need to get the PIONEER H.U. installed, I am doing everything myself. So no cutting corners, I am doing this once and doing it right the first time around, The dealer is telling me now WEDNESDAY for sure. I am getting the harness, the Axxess steering wheel control and the AUX / iPod kit that goes in the middle console, Pioneer MIC in the factory location. Since we cant figure out how the OEM circuit works. There will be plenty of pictures on this install. I am going to use PHOTOBUCKET for crisp pictures. My 2012 Impreza 2.0i Sport Limited in Ice Silver Metallic is also going to have some new shoes as well, Some MOMO GT-R's 18 X 8 with an offset of ET +50 on 225/45R18 and there is alo the re-programing of the TPMS OEM Subaru's Sorry to go and on about this but I can't wait!

When I do my install I am going to use a 1" greenlee knock out set to make the hole into the engine bay, and then I am going to use those STINGER's water tight gromets. Thanks again!!Speakerpimp!! I've been looking for something like these for a very long time.
