Default 07 wrx cluster/electrical issue

Okay a little background here I've done my research and all I can find is people saying the vss or alternator.

The issue is the speedometer isn't working however the odometer is still calculating distance. Also the tach comes in and out every so often bit all other gauges work fine. Also the battery light is on and stays on. I've tested my alternator and all my grounds and nothing everything checks out. Also the cluster stumps me since it keeps track but not speed. Really don't want to get a different cluster since to my understanding I'll lose my mileage. Anyone else have these issues or any info on it? Also if anyone would like to drop in a fog light wire diagram that would be greatly appreciated since I have to redo my whole setup from the previous owner tried to do a fog lights on by them self but the shot was messy and didn't work. Thanks in advance

If the odometer is still reading distances that means its getting a speed reading from your speed sensor. The gauge cluster could just be shot. Your best bet is to swap in another gauge cluster and see if that fixes your issue

I think there was a post w/ some contact information for shops that can adjust the mileage of an odometer to match what yours currently is.

the fact that the odo still works and the tach is wonky also makes me think that jthatch12 is correct, probably the cluster itself is buggered.

I have switched between 2 clusters both under 40k and we're working. The second one actually jumped up to 40moh but froze there. In thinking maybe bad signal to the ecu but I can't find a diagram anywhere. And also why would it cause my cig lighter and glove box not to illum

sounds like you have a wire grounding where it shouldn't be. look for frayed wiring, kinks in the wiring, exposed wires. Check all your fuses too (with a multi-meter)

Verify that power is getting to pin C7, signal from the sensor is on pin C2, and ground is on pin C6 of the connector going to the cluster.
