Yeah it seems like everywhere else gets all the goodies while the US gets shafted.

Talking Fog Lights Assembly Retrofit

Each fog light assembly is $135.00 @ the stealer! Ouch! I was trying to buy a set to have no down time. What size are those Blazer Projectors? 2.5" ?

Plus the 50w hid bulbs glass capsule is made thicker from the 35w ones which suppose to help out with the heat problem. I think you are referring to the Mini H1, which don't have the 50W option when you make an order, plus the back reflector bowl is so much smaller as well, which makes it not compatible with the 50W setup. As for the foglights. here's a couple of pics I did.

Cut a hole big enough to fit the foglights.

And I just use the leftover headlight sealant to seal all around the edges and then I just use the stock foglights mounting brackets to mount the whole thing. I used a little bit of JB Weld to secure the Blazers mounting holes to the oem brackets and it seems to work well. Sorry I didn't take any pics of the completed mounting of the fogs as it was getting really late and we hurried to get it all done.

I'd say wait a little for Trs to get the revised matchbox projectors (supposedly completely sealed) instead of the blazers

Yeah I'd say the same. They are not making the blazers anymore so the matchbox would be your best bet.

It uses the H1 bulb size like the mini H1's.

Unhappy D2s D2r D2c

What is the difference between these bulbs? I want the OEM setup, that is why I went with the Matsu****a ballasts. I will try and get the Auto-leveling headlights and then do the H.I.D. retrofit on those headlights, then I can sell the ones that came with my car to someone else. My only concern is that I am not sure if the "D2S D2R D2C" H.I.D. projector setup would fit into our headlights.

The 4300K D2S is I guess the brightest in its class, but for many it's not blue enough, but I like the brightness and lumens on the road from this kelvin temperature scale. The 5000K is what real OEM is but hard to get for aftermarket bulbs, that is another reason why I like the D2S type bulb.

No, 4300k is the OEM spec.

And D2S /D2R is not a matter of preference. Your headlights require either one or the other. D2S is for projector types (for instance 06+ sti) and D2R is for OEM HID of reflector type, like for instance 04-05 sti). there are other types like D1S and D4S but they are on specific oem setups, they use different ballasts (I dont feel more details are needed for now on these).

Edit: I just realized you were probably talking about d2s preference when talking about mini h1 vs mini d2s.

D2C as far as I am concerned is not an actual bulb type. it is just a bulb base type that physically fit in either headlights, d2s or d2r. this is moot if you ask me. socket fitment is not the relevant difference between d2s and d2r. The important difference is the d2r has a shield to prevent glare so that the oem designed reflector hid have correct beam pattern. In retrofit world d2r is almost Inexistent, everybody retrofits with projectors anyways.

And if you have projectors designed for d4s like I do, you just mod the bulb or the projectors to remove the tab that prevents d2s from fitting and run it with d2s bulbs and ballasts.

A solution to our fog lights OEM wiring, kind of pricey, but if you don't want to cut your harness wires. Here you go: http://www.hidguy.net/5202-Plug-and-...sing-Extension

So this pig tail makes it so you can install HIDs into the stock fog lamp housing without having to retrofit with projectors?

Yes, I just ordered my set, research research research ! That way it's all plug and play and if you sell the car you can go back OEM.

NO, what it does is it allows you to install the after market ballast to the original Foglight harness without cutting the OEM plug. You still need to modify the Foglight housing to fit the projector in them.

OK, now I understand Frederik. So, I am going to stick with my original plan of using the OEM 4300K and my Matsu****a Ballasts are wired to D2S sockets. Now to find some D2S in 4300K for a reasonable price.

Well my current retrofitted projectors are the Mini D2S and these are the D2S bulbs that I'm using and I feel its worth every penny. http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...ducts_id=10591

So, you've got the ballasts, and chose 4300K capsules. What projector are you using? This is no longer for the foglight location & function, is it?

That takes both the Morimoto matchbox & Mini H1 out of the list.

Cool Did you ever get around to do the retrofit?

No, not for the fog lights, I am going to wait for the completely sealed matchbox projectors. As for the main low beam, I am going with what JDMSTA went with, the Morimoto mini DS2 projectors. I don't know if you guys know this, but the Masu****a OEM ballast mount to the bottom of the headlight housing as the OEM HID's that come with the CANADIAN Imprezas.
