Where to go for tire mounting in CT
looking for a place in CT to mount tires on 17X8 rota torques, silver. how much does it usually run for mounting/balancing. a friend of mine went to pepboys to get falken azenis sports mounted on 17X9 5zigen's and no scratches occured. theres a place by me but im worried they will scratch them up.
EDIT: as for tires ill probably be running falken rt-615's since azenis sports have been discontinued. any other suggestions?

Check Tire rack for recommended installers. It'll probably run $75-100.

How about Tires plus Wheels in the south end of Hartford? They look real professional, clean, compulsive, etc. The shop was immaculate and the wheels they sell are all high end.

Brent, your nuts are too big?
I have a SERIOUS adversion against town fair. On MULTIPLE occasions they have let me down. (flashback border) Back when I was with teh purple one, we got her tires at the one in Derby for her civic. The kid there tried to tell me that the sipes in the tires open when driving and act like suction cups on the road!!!! HAHAH!!! Then when winter rolled around, we went to the one in hamden to do the free snow tire change-over. She had a set from tire rack with the steel wheels, just a quick job. They said it would be about 3 hours, as they were busy. Fine, so we wealked over to the grocery store, modells, etc and shopped, ate, etc. We got back in 3 hours and the car was not even started. we sat and waited. Then a cute blond walked in, and they took her car in right away! I got pissed, and also saw the techs picking and choosing the RO's which one to do first. I started to get REALLY pissed and raised a scene with the manager, who had every excuse in the book. So I wrote corprate, and never heard back. GREAT company. LASTLY, I got the rims and tires from edge racing for my mercedes and they refused to mount them. THey are jerk-offs and will never get my business again. I bring everything to vertucci automotive in wallingford. they are inexpensive and work on mostly german highline cars. Good guys. |

I brought a wheel to Town Fair tire and they asked me what kind of car it was off of. The stock center caps clearly say, "SUBARU" in the center. When I came back to pick it up, they tried giving me one which clearly said, "PONTIAC" in the center.
But, they did patch the wheel for $4 soooo.... I guess it's not all bad. |

Stay away from Town Fair on the Belin Turn Pike, They couldn't balance a tire to save their life. Also they torqued the lug nuts so hard that I had to use a breaker bar to break them loose. Which caused the threads to get galled up. Had to go to another location to get the tires balanced.
Pep Boys on the pike did a great job of mounting and didn't scratch the polished lip on my wheels. |
