WAIC with a twist?
Can anyone tell me why I shouldn't (or couldn't) install y splitter hoses on my radiator in and out hose and run a water to air intercooler as part of my cooling system?

Well, the really big problem with this is your cooling system runs at a fairly constant high temperature, which would probably end up heating your charge air rather than cooling it. So there is that.
That's why you should always have separate coolant systems for your AWIC. Which, isn't terribly expensive or difficult to put together either way. With the complexity of these systems, and your reluctance to do it correctly, I would suggest staying with a standard air to air intercooler as they are much more simple. |

......wow...... So, do me a favor, get your car good and hot, then grab the upper and lower radiator hose. Then get back to us at how much cooler the water is.... |

Having a completely separate system for the AWIC is ideal, it will be more efficient in every aspect of its operation. |

Long and short of this is BMW does it and it works. THey do it partly because there wasn't enough space to put a regular air intercooler. It's a waste of money for our cars, a water injection system would be much better bang for buck.

I live in Arizona so in regard to my own heat soak problems I think I'm going to make a water sprayer system by tapping into the windshield washer reservoir. |
