For 50K I think this is a steal honestly.
Of course I'd buy used but the same is to be said for a CTS-V. |

this is one amazing car indeed. seeing 2-yr used gt500s are now on the market for ~38-40k, this is one hell of a bargain few years down the road.
one thing i cant help but wonder is how the aluminum block will hold up to mods and increase in boost. i am not sure if this is the end of 10-sec GT500s with stock engines. |

Doesn't make any sense. The new GT350 will have about the same horsepower as this with its new Supercharged Coyote 5.0 motor and it was estimated to cost $63,000.

I dont know guys i dont really see the value to be thatttt wonderful(not saying its bad). A base c6 vette, not to mention a z51 package car, will do a pretty good job of outpacing a gt500 around any track(the base vette a touch slower trapspeed in the 1/4, ~115 vs ~113mph for the vette...a base z51 package is in the ~115's though), cost less, gets better gas mileage, has a 100k warranty stock?
Although, this newer gt500 if all weight stays the same, minus the savings from the engine and the 10hp gained from the new tune...should trap ~117's or so. |

Sounds and looks great! Though the regular GT seems even a greater leap forward.

And another unfortunate real world consequence of the GT500 vs a vette. A gt500 is a "Shelby GT500" at the delearships...you are a lucky man to pay msrp. Meanwhile a corvette is easier considered a run of the mill vehicle, which if you are on this forum chances are you know how to haggle at a dealership. You see the price difference growing before your eyes now dont you? (my brother paid 46.5 OTD for a 08 2lt z51 6spd, OTD) The interior? Ill give you that, the inteior is nothing special in the vette, the new dash design and layout is not bad, the seats are junk. The mustang interior is two clicks above nothing special. But then you also have the 100k mile warranty out of the box to back up the stuff that really matters in a sports car with the vette as well. Lastly, the 2 extra seats you refer to as an advantage in your ~50k sports car(yeah thats what the gt500 needs, some more weight from more people)...also comes with a wonderful 11 cubic feet of storage so you can possibly pack a picnic for those 4 individuals. Atleast with the 22 cubic feet the vette posses, there is more then enough room for a couple weekend bags and a cooler. You would choose the mustang why? It will be all personal preference, the GT stang should be more limited in numbers than the base Corvette, should depreciates less compared to the base Vette? I've gotten a couple of rides in a Z06. Amazing as the ride was, the interior was horrific for a car of that performance caliber. I couldn't believe there was what appear to be stitching molded into the various plastic panels on the door and dash to simulate a leather cover look. That's just down right ghetto!! Back to the GT500, good job Ford!!

Can mods please remove those posts that AGAIN compare mustangs to vettes? stop beating the dead horse because they are completely different cars. Ppl should compare the vette to 370z or cayman s.
Comparing the mustangs to camaros, challengers, or even the M3 will do just fine.... |

One of my best friends owns a C6. It's a fast car but never one I would consider purchasing. Honestly the interior alone rules it out for me. Add to that the Mustang looks better (to me), has more in car tech, and has that beautiful whine it's no contest. |

I was actually refering to 08/09 lightning lap times. A z51 still went ~3.01, im sure a base wouldnt be to far behind. Anyways cool man, def cool car. Part of my distaste for the gt500 when it first came out was that they made it so damn heavy. They are finally makeing steps in the right direction to make things more effecient instead of just throwing crap tons of hp at it. Looking forward to seeing how the new gt500 performs for sure. And ill agree the sound of the s/c'd 8 out of the stang>ls anything in my book.
