There are 2 more windows than normal, making it an extra $20 - where are you getting your windows tinted for $70?! Seriously $20 doesn't sound like a huge amount if you didn't mention it was a hatchback in the first place...

Really, you dropped $25k on a car and you're upset about $20?

Ha! I'm with you seriously what's $20?!?! I was charged another $20 for the hatch too. Oh well. It's another piece or add'l feet of vinyl roll so it makes sense.

I called and told him I had a hatch and was quoted 200 for 3m. I was down with that and made an appointment and when I went this morning he was like whoa whoa. These small windows are going to make it an additional 20 for 4 small windows. I was just like wtf. I'm not mad, just think its dumb.

Well that's different entirely, changing a price after getting a quote is shady.

I rescind my previous statement

Me too, haha - I guess the double panes on the front do require more cutting, measurement and labor install as well though - I'll have to get some quotes myself because I really like the tinted look and $200 isn't too bad.

I ordered it last Weds. Just emailed the dealer today to see if he had any updates because I never even got a confirmation email. He originally was saying May when I was in the store (which I thought was BS). Today he said it looks like the first part of June it should come in which I thought was more realistic based on the feedback here.

yup, i ordered mine on 4/2, and never recieved an email. I called Subaru this morning and they said the system isn't set up to send out emails. so I guess I will be stuck waiting for the dealer to call me when it is on its way

I really think it made a difference immediately. I was getting better than epa mpg's when it was brand new. But as soon as I changed all them fluids, it got another mpg or so easily. The transmission and rear diff are super easy to do yourself and imo its worth it. To each his or her own...

Default Fumoto washer or Subaru crush washer

When anyone is using the Fumoto valve, are you using their washer that comes with the valve or the Subaru crush washer?

Use the washer supplied by Fumoto, if the washers were failing and oil leaking during the lifetime of the install it would be all over the Internet (it isn't as far as I could see).

you are right: these are definitely less substantial than the ones that came with my 2000 civic ex (not an option, just part of the car) oh well. i guess they will do what they can do, but in the end, something will take the abuse of hitting other doors/objects. :\
The plastic guard itself is still fixed to the door. It's the paint layer that was moved on top of the plastic guard. It's not too noticeable except that I know about it.

I bit of touch-up paint should make it look a ton better. Sucks nonetheless!

wow. i'd be frustrated too. from the picture it looks like it's a hole. i agree with the other post above. maybe some touch up paint?

then again, i've never had success using touch up paint. it seems whenever i've used it, it makes things often look worse. almost look like my car developed acne or something...

Rather than complain about the ding in the molding be happy that your door wasn't dinged and isn't in danger of rusting -- isn't that why you installed the molding (well that's why I did it...)

Has everyone else been getting a bunch of surveys from Subaru? I think I got my fifth one yesterday and specifically asked if I had any problems with my car, what they were and if I had to take it for a dealer, what other brands of cars I was considering and what my favorite and least favorite features of the car were.

I basically said that I was happy with the car but wished it had better sound quality and a back up camera. The survey did not mention anything about mpg.

I got a survey yesterday. It was my 4th or 5th also. It said I would be entered in a drawing for a $500 gift card and they would donate money to a charity I pick.

I got it yesterday too. For my Item that needed
Improvement I selected transmission and went off in the comments about my poor mpg & needing a firmware update. I too was happy on all counts except sound quality, interior cabin noise & interior storage (center console area).

Fluid change aside, is the new 2012 Impreza manual transmission an improvement over previous years? I'll be test driving one in a few weeks but I'd like some veteran opinions.

No, it feels darn near the same as the previous transmissions (somewhat rubbery and not very quick). Due to tall gearing in 4 and 5th, it isn't very lively either unless you kick it down to 3rd. I don't think anyone would ever confuse the Subaru 5 speed for a German transmission or anything like that.

I have not looked into it yet, but thought the same thing-- it would be neat to see this lifted

... how does one get an impreza lifted? It wouldn't void any warranty would it?
