Default GTWorx Cup Kit Setup Questions

What's up guys, I have a few questions about the GTWorx Cup Kit. First off, I don't have much knowledge when it comes to suspension, but I've been researching a lot and trying to obtain as much knowledge as possible. Unfortunately, I couldn't find TOO much specific information about the GTWorx kit, other than the high build quality and impressive ride quality for the price.

Anyways, I ordered it the other week with the RCE Yellow Springs (springs will be in this week and dampeners will arrive in a couple weeks). Right now my car is on stock suspension. My car is a daily driver and, just like most Subie drivers, like to have a lot of fun in the car. So I'm thinking to shoot for around -2* of camber for the front and -1.5* for the rear. This is what I've found for a general recommendation for someone like me. If you have any other recommendations, please don't hesitate. Now I couldn't find much on how much camber the car will have if I just bolt the kit right up. Does anyone have this type of information? Basically once I find that info, I can go from there to choose whether or not I need camber bolts, rear camber kits, or front camber top mounts to achieve the amount of camber I am interested in. Even if you guys would just recommend these parts for the higher quality, please let me know. I don't want to break the bank, but I definitely want to get the setup dialed in correctly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

EDIT: Feel free to check out my "build thread"! http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2365576

Im assuming you have a 2008-2013 WRX? please confirm what car model/year you have so we can give you more accurate information. update your profile with this information if possible. (edit, just saw your build thread, 2012 WRX)

youre going to be looking at about -2* camber in the rear stock. and the rear camber is not adjustable stock. to adjust camber you will either need to get rear camber bushings (whiteline and powerflex make them), which install in the rear upper A-arms, or get replacement adjustable rear lower control arms (made by cusco or GT-spec).

the bushings are a pain in the ass to install and adjust, but are less expensive, and provide a smaller range of adjustment.

the rear LCA, is more expensive, but MUCH easier to install and adjust, and has a larger range of adjustment.

In my option, since you dont seem to mind throwing money at your car for quality parts, get the rear LCAs by cusco and save yourself the headache of those bushings.

for the front, you will probably be able to get around -1.5* with the stock bolts, maybe a little less.

RCE makes camber plates that will fit stock and stock like spring/strut combos, and while they are high quality and will be much stiffer than stock (solid bushing), they are quite expensive @ $500 for the set.

or you can spend less than 50 bucks and just get front camber bolts. that should get you to -2*

My stock wrx came with:
Front left -1.0
Front right -2.4
Rear left -0.9
Rear right -2.2

Not sure if that is a good thing, becasue after a alignment it stayed almost the same, the tech said that was the best he can do. I then had another tech do the alignment 2 weeks later and he also had similair results. Both was done at firestone with the life time alignment service.

You guys think its ok for the alignments to not match on the left and right?

i have this kit. i maxed out the stock camber bolts. im putting rce lowering camber plates on in the spring. that will allow 3 degrees of camber. then i need a real alighment. i never did anything with rear adjustments. stock isnt adjustable. the yellow springs are quite a stiff ride.

You are correct about the rear. However, the 2011-2013 models get quite a bit more front camber with the Bilsteins. Expect a range of about -1 to -3 up front with the STOCK eccentric bolt.

Since I will have that range, front camber bolts will no longer be needed, correct? Would you still recommend going with a rear camber kit?

Also, a question specifically for you Dan... any idea when the shocks will arrive?

Thanks!

That's correct, no need for camber bolts in the front to get that kind of range on the 2011+. As far as the rear camber bushings, it wouldn't hurt. These cars tend to have a fair amount of rear cross camber from the factory, not to mention too much negative rear camber in general. The camber bushings would allow you to make finer adjustments and even it out side to side as well. The adjustable LCA is another option to accomplish the same thing, just more costly.

We're expecting WRX Bilsteins any day now, they're on the boat!

So a 2011-2013 Will get ~-1 to -3 in Camber

What can we expect the rear to be since there isn't any stock adjustment?

Edit: -2 I see. LCA Bushings are ~200 for 200 more can get Cusco LCA.... cool

Excited to hear that WRX bilsteins might be available again! I'd kinda given up on them and was saving up for AST coilovers.

I got my springs a week ago, just waiting on my shocks! I'm guessing I'll be receiving them any day now since I'm in PA.

Im so happy I read this post. The perch is based on the 08-10? So its initially 1/2 inch lower on the 11+ car before installing the yellows or blacks. So your looking at over a 1 inch drop in the front alone.
Will the struts overpower the stock springs? Im looking to get 17x9s and rolling the fender is NOT an option..
I may have to get the camber plates and sway bars and call it a day,
Thanks

How come in the picture the shock that sexy girl is holding has a blue cover on top. My front Bilsteins didn't come with a blue cover like that from RCE. Am I missing something?

how much do these sets run for? the site does not show a price right now. This might be a better solution than going with the KW V1 or V3 money wise. Worst part about the KW products is finding top hats/camber plates that work with them.

I would love to know how much a set with yellows plus a set of their camber plates will run total. If the price is right I might go with a full RCE setup including sways when I am ready to do the mods.

I am told my shocks have arrived. I will be getting back into town this weekend and throwing them on immediately. I figure the shock/spring combo will be fairly easy to install, but I've heard the rear camber kit is a big pain in the ass. I will post some pics once I get everything put together!
