Default BRZ FA20 into WRX idea?

So I had a crazy thought and i seem to not be able to find anyone that is thinking about trying this or have done it. It is swapping out an EJ257 that is in my WRX now for a built and turbo'd FA20.

I was doing some of the reading and stuff about the Crawford's BRZ that is putting down some crazy numbers and great responses with their turbo BRZ. So I was trying to get other thoughts on doing this motor in a WRX.

Probably cheaper to buy a used BRZ and then do what you want with it.

They already have a turbo FA20 in the JDM Legacy and its confirmed to be coming in the next gen WRX/STI. I would personally just wait and spend my money on a new car rather then go through the headache of a complex swap.

Do it. It'd be sweet. There's really no such thing as an easy swap. Ask the ez30r guys. At least you'd have lots of room for it. They're right though, cheap and easy will not be part of your vocabulary during this swap.

Subscribed in case this ever comes back. There are more and more FRS/BRZ wrecks as time goes on.

IMHO, it would be better to swap a built STI engine than swapping in a built FA20 into a WRX. The FA20 has several reliability issues related to the HPFP and the Direct Injectors. A few have even gone up in flames from faulty install/failure of seals or something like that.

I would like to see a N/A FA20 in a 2.5i or older Impreza though. FT86club owners are getting 200WHP with E85 tunes and some boltons. That would make a fun DD.
