Yes, someone has. Their post is on page 107.

The CVT has some kind of adaptive system that reacts to how much you break, I believe. I used low-mode when I went down a steep, winding gradient and was able to hold the car in the upper 30's.

Hmm, doesn't sound promising. So much of our driving here outside of town is in steep mountain canyons that require more transmission control. Thanks, Subaru. I'm sure they'll offer it on MY2015 or 16 Foresters.

Steep mountain canyons? You're buying the turbo then, right? Paddles - non issue.

Thinking about it - I'm just not thrilled about spending near $40,000 on a loaded Subaru crossover.

I hear ya - '13 fully loaded $28k. '14 fully loaded $34k. $6k for what? Being forced into nav and eyesite bs. The better gas mileage won't make up that $6k. The seats sound like they're worse than the '13s. So that leaves the bigger interior, visibility, power/drivability to make up the difference. Hopefully this coming week I can see if those latter diffs make it worth plopping the $34k down.

Otherwise, that price is getting into territory owned by a lot of other options.

Often more than $34k - they are really pushing $40k with all the options.

The 2.0 XT Premium does look good, though - but no AWP with this model, navigation not optional (inconsistent - states it is on cars101.com and part of Subaru's site but can't build car with it), etc.

Be fair. You are not being forced to have Eyesight. And fully loaded 13 to fully loaded 14 you only lose HIDs. I agree it is stupid to force NAV for the touring, but there are a lot more things that the 13 does not have.

I wish they used the 4.3" LCD head unit that you find in the Crosstrek Limited for the 2.5i Limited. The outdated standard head unit is part of the reason I didn't purchase the 2.5i Limited I ordered (Assumed it came with the 4.3" LCD when I ordered it (Head unit - not the information display)). I think I'm going to look for or place an order for a Touring 2.5i instead. I'd rather have the inefficient touchscreen than look at something from the early 2000's :P

N/A Premium can have a NAV. XT Premium cannot.

HIDs are big deal. I don't buy cars without them anymore. Once you've had them for many years, regular halogens just don't cut it. So, for me, it's a make or break deal.
That said, any idea what a factory ballast/headlight/bulb swap might run? I just really do not want or need the eyesite/nav stuff.
I looked into it on my '04 WRX before I bought might '05 STi but that was almost a decade ago, lol.
Also, can someone remind what that last pkg includes? Just eyesite/nav/HIDs? Or does it include push button start better head unit/amp? I suppose if the audio was significantly better it might make the decision easier.

What? A 2013 Subaru Forester XT fully loaded was NOT $28k. Maybe out the door and all kinds of discounts/withholds but no where near ~$28k without some mean negotiations. Maybe a fully loaded Limited or Premium but a Touring (non-turbo) topped out around ~$29-30 easily. 2013 XT Touring models topped out around ~$33-34 as well.

The Build Your Own feature on Subaru's website shows a fully loaded 2013 XT Touring with navigation at $31,700.

Not cheap on the factory HIDs. It does include push button start. And the audio is Harman Kardon.

The touchscreen/Nav head unit and Harman Kardon system come with the Touring trim, not the Eyesight package... Just FYI. It helps to justify the $2000 difference in trims :P (Limited to Touring)

I'm tempted by the Eyesight package, but push-button start and HIDs are not worth $2400 to me (The Eyesight features are not necessary for a car with such great outward visibility IMO)

I wish push-button start was standard on the Limited/Touring trims - It's standard across most of the competition's mid and higher trims.

You do realize that's only after they added the 2014 models to the "build your own" feature, correct? Brahzmitten is comparing the 2013 to the 2014 in terms of price. And if we were to compare them properly, the price difference between the model years isn't $6k at all. The price between a 2014 model in the year 2013 and a 2013 model in the year 2013 might be $6k but that's completely different.

I'm talking below invoice pricing. Why bother with MSRP "AWmitten" - it doesn't reflect reality. I'm talkin' pricing in the real world, out the door, what I got quotes on.

If you pay MSRP, you didn't try very hard. I bought from a very small "in the middle of nowhere" Subaru dealership that only had 5 Foresters allocated. If I can get invoice pricing, anyone can, it pays to shop around.

tax/title/license shouldn't be included because it varies wildly among buyers.

There are places that will be able to make projectors from non-projectors.

Tax, title, and fees apply to any vehicle, regardless of vehicle/manufacturer, so it is not wise use it to stretch a point unless you can provide competitor's prices with tax, title, and fees too. Since this varies from owner, city, county, state, it is not a valid statistical comparison. It just clouds up the conversation.
