Not at all, they still look red, especially in direct sunlight. They only look darker when they are in a shadow or something. When its dark out and my lights are on it looks really good IMO, has a deep red color to it.

I had a professional tint shop install these overlays and I love the way they look. However it wasn't perfect by any means. Overall I'm satisfied but I expected a cleaner fit. My tinter said he was not impressed with the material and cut of the overlays. There was a fair amount of trimming and stretching depending on what piece it was.

I'm a little more OCD than most folks but i still feel its much improved over stock. There are ever so slight ripples in the side overlays at top edges. It may have been the installer or it may be the fit and finish of the overlays, either way what's done is done.

I'll probably just get them professionally painted when these overlays start peeling. I, in no way, expect these to last 3 years but who knows.

If you have seen my installs, i havent had a problem and the people i have installed for have had no complaints. People that tint, im sorry to say, cant do vinyl. People that do vinyl can tint. People that tint deal with more flat surfaces and do know how to stretch and use a heat gun or torch. I've had people ship me their tail lights and ive done them and shipped them back cheaper then some shops in there area. just my 2 cents

I hear you loud and clear. The thing is that this guy has done complete overlay kits on entire cars with no issue. I've seen his work in person. I am still happy with the look, and if I did it again, I'd remove the tails and have them painted.
I did red with lightly smoked centers. I'll post pics when I'm back on my laptop. I just can't imagine that these overlays will not peel at the edges over time.

Exactly! Thats why I always tell my customers, if you're gonna have it installed, make sure the shop has experience installing vinyl overlays, not just 20 plus years doing window tint. Two different materials!

I wouldn't say I am completely satisfied but I'm happy enough to not want to do it over. I'll text you a few pics tonight.

Is that the 3/10 smoke overlay, over the red? Looks really good.

How long would the install take for these overlays for someone (who hasn't installed these before) but owns a vinyl shop. the guy vinyled my brothers roof, front vents and trunk trim
and did a great job. I am just wondering because he charges $50/ hr and when i showed him the video he said it might take 2 hours. I want to know a rough time for someone who is used to using vinyl because i dont want to spend like $200 just for red tail lights. i wouldnt mind paying the cost of the overlays plus 50 for the install. thanks

Took my guy an hour and he'd never done them but was experienced with vinyl.

I contacted a shop in SLC asking them if they'd be able to install something like this for me, and they mentioned the police here have been cracking down on overlays for some reason, and the shop has taken some heat because of it. Now they aren't installing them anymore. I need to find an alternative way to fix these atrocious taillights. Any ideas?

I've seen spray, but that obviously isn't a first option. You could just give it a shot yourself if there is no one to do it for you.

I could certainly try.. I just have zero experience with vinyl and I'd hate to ruin it.

I know how you feel but desperate times -> desperate measures. If there is no one local for me I'm definitely going to try.
