Default 2002 Subaru Outback Wagon for Parts Only

Howdy,

I'm in Portland, Oregon. I recently found out that my beloved 2002 Outback Wagon has a serious problem with the engine. The mechanic (Carr Subaru of Beaverton) is saying the best case scenario would be a problem with the bearings and crank. The car can be driven as it is now but it makes a horrible knocking noise and I was advised not to drive it. Though I've loved this car I think it's time for me to part ways with it.

The car has just under 150,000 miles. I've always changed the oil between every 3,500 and 5,000 miles. In September, 2011 the engine was pulled and fully serviced, including new head gasket, by Superior Imports. In September, 2012 the transmission was replaced with a low mileage Japanese transmission, this work was also done by Superior Imports. Last year I had the half axles replaced with Subaru factory parts. Recently, the fuel sensor was also replaced and the power steering was fixed. The car could use new tires but they aren't completely bald or anything like that.

Cosmetically, the car is in very condition. It's blue with gold. The interior is near perfect and there are some minor paint scratches on the exterior. There's a small to unnoticeable indentation on the drivers door. There's also a small hole in the front bumper. I was rear ended once in 2011 and the whole rear bumper was replaced professionally, it looks perfect.

I come to this forum in hopes of finding an honest buyer or two so I can compare their offers and feel like I'm getting a fair price. I also hope that someone gets the parts they need at a price that works for them.

Please let me know the most appropriate forum section to post this thread in. Sorry if I have made any cliche noobie mistakes. Let me know if there is anything else you would like know about the car. Thank you!

We have For Sale Classifieds in both the general forums, as well as in local/regional forums. You should be able to find NWIC, and they have a private FS forum there.

You may not be able to start a thread there until you've made 3 posts or 5 or whatever. Just go post in a few threads, and then post this where it's supposed to be.

Thanks for the advice on how to gain access to the classifieds area.
