Exclamation 04Forester ques: 225/55/16 on stock rims?

I got 04 Forester XS with 16' stock rims.. the previous T/A tires really got to be replaced now (20+k). Under dry condition is still acceptable but just can't get it wet at all! So, now I'm considering to buy it a set of new shoses..

Can I go 225/55/16 tires? or OEM size will be fine? any recommend?

Money is my second concern too. Kumho KH11 and Yoko AVS ES100 are seemed cheaper overall, anyone?

Beside (may slightly off the topic, just my opinion, may stupid too) I enjoy to drive it "with" its LSD instead of gripping by those super sticky donuts on all corncers. Am I hurting my car? or.. Forestor's limit can still be pushed more than that by higher perfomance tires?

would be appreciated for all suggestion!

Mark

225/55/16's should work fine (assuming oem tires were 215/60/16).

I would check out the Falken FK-451 instead of the ES100's

Falken 451

They're excellent tires in the wet/dry, and very inexpensive. Search on the forums for FK451 and see what others think. I've been using them for 20k miles, and they still have another 10k miles of tread left. Great set of tires for the money.

If you need an all season, check out the Falken ZIEX 512.

I'm running 225-60's Sumitomo HTR+ on the stock Forester wheels and they work great for my winter tires. You should be fine with 55's.

Winters are a joke here. 2" of snow and we shut down.
