Post Kirby11WRX's bittersweet build thread

Well, I guess it all begins today. I'm leaving this afternoon for Afghanistan (2nd time) so my build officially begins. I've got 9 months to get this right, but the basis will consist of a fuel system to support E85 (1k and dw65), ETS front mount, SS1 short block, 1.5XTR and a suspension setup that is TBD (still doing my research). I'm also hoping to get a custom set of RPF1's but that all depends on the group buy... I'll post purchases as they're made and any additional progress. The installations will be done after I get back and my plan is to load the car up and take it to TopSpeed for 93 and E85 tunes... These are all plans, so they are subject to change...

Gave her one last bath before saying goodbye, this is how i left her...

She's sitting on a typical Stage 2 setup w/ Invidia Catless DP, Q300, AEM CAI and Cobb STS

Hopefully this gets pretty interesting!

Well, theres been some changes to this plan... A week after I left, my wife and I found out that we are having our first child (girl) in April. So, needless to say, I've had to temper my plans a bit. Instead of going all out with the SS1 shortblock and Dom 1.5xtr, I'm gonna go with a "slightly" more mild setup... The basis will still be E85 with a custom fuel system from Topspeed consisting of their 940cc injectors and 340lph fuel pump. Since I'll be sticking with the stock turbo for the time being, I'm gonna go with the Process West TMIC. I'll also be adding Tomei UEL header (can't do without the rumble) and most likely a perrin uppipe and Cobb EBCS...
Suspension, ... where to start ... I've tossed and turned over which route to go with suspension... GTWorx combo, Cusco Zero 2E, BC's, KW... And so far i've come up with nothing but headaches, I think i'm leaning towards the GTWorx, I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I have made 3 purchases for the car so far... GTSpec subframe braces... A custom audio system built by my good friend Imprezed2011wrx
AND... last night I pulled the trigger on a custom set of Gramslight 57DR in 17x9 +35. As you hopefully can see, I want to do this build right, no replicas, no knock offs. I will go replica route with a front lip though, at least one of them will be, one for daily and one for when she needs to be in her sunday best.
I also jumped in on the GS radiator shroud w/ tool tray, mainly out of boredom though. But, there will be more updates to come soon. I'll post up pic of the subframe brace after I dig it out of my emails later.

The Wheels: Gramslight 57DR 17x9 +35 GunMetal

The audio:

Thanks guys

Na, now i'll just have someone else to share it with! I've already been looking at Recaro convertible car seats and when i have to watch her I'll attach a mobile to the undercarriage or hood of the car as I wrench away

No, not particularly... But it doesn't hurt either. It was mainly because I saw this (i know mine arent gold, but the wheels are the exact same specs) and thought it was clean and functional stance though I personally plan to go with a slightly meatier tire setup

Here are some quick updates...

I ended up not going with the above wheels. Instead I ended up with getting the same wheels, just in a different size and color. So she'll be sitting on 18x9.5 +38 in semi-gloss black, a few other members have the same wheels now and from what i've seen it should be a very functional and visually appealing stance. The wheels were delivered to my home a few days ago and I'll post up pictures as soon as I get some forwarded to me.

Also, I have been working closely with Mike at TSM on the specifics of my build. Two days ago I ordered KW Variant 1 coilovers and the Process West TMIC, Mike was awesome throughout the entire process and even went out of his way to help me send payment for the products due to communication difficulties I was having while here in AFG. Also, all tuning on the car will be done at TSM as well.

In the next few weeks I'll be ordering the TSM 970cc inj and 340lph fuel pump as well as the Tomei UEL header. I'll also be ordering other various odds and ends such as suspension bracing and bushings, front lip, jdm tail light, gt spec steering wheel, smy and a few custom fabrication jobs by a buddy when I get home.

Thanks for looking, things will be getting more exciting in the near future!
