If you really want to compare dyno charts of what a turbo can do on an Evo, this is why I bought the HTA GT3794...A few words and the dyno chart from their website. I am not looking for a sub 600 HP turbo. I am looking to build something way too nasty for the average guy on the street. I also want to drive the car and sometimes you just get things going before making it over the top. When I go to the VP C16 tune, I am looking to get near 750-800. For a street car with a leather interior, that ain't bad.
This unit has a standard GT35R configuration, so it can easily replace an existing GT35R without modifying the header or manifold. It is available in either 3" vband or 3" 4 bolt outlet. No other turbine housing options are available at this time. This turbocharger is recommended for applications running 40psi boost pressure that target the 800-900whp range. The FP HTA™ GT3794R has exceeded 900whp easily during testing as well has running 8's in the quarter mile with trap speeds in excess of 160mph. |

Hey Clark would it be worth getting rid of my GT4094r for a hta 3794r I wonder how the spool and power would match any ideas please. |

The FP black that I posted spool faster and it is a 2.3L vs a 2.4L... Plus I believe the EF4 turbo is running a ball out tune with more boost. |

From what I've seen in Evo's (There's not a whole lot of info on this EF4 Turbo) It seems to spool a little slower than an FP Black... It also seems to make about the same power as an FP Black or maybe even a little less (More people need to push it to see if it can crack 700+ like some FP Black's have done before). All this is to be expected since their size are comparable.
My biggest concern about the EF4 would be the reliability... this thing being thrust bearing and trying to do 35+ PSi... I don't know but it might need one hell on an engine oil! Just like the FP Black's, but there a lot of people running them and they are proven. Bottom line... I'm not seeing the magical 3000+ rpm spool/600 WHP Turbo. About ther OP 3794... I'm impressed by the spool... powerwise I'm not impressed. Maybe the C16 Map changes my mind... good luck! |

This turbo wasn't designed to be run at 22 psi, so it's power is going to be down for now. Once the boost gets into the 30's it should really start to pick up power.

I think once it's aired out a bit it will start to throw down. It's probably happiest between 28-38 psi I would think.?

I'd have to let the tuner answer the injector question, I'm sure there will be a post up soon about the car. I believe the pump is a Aeromotive 340.
The owner said the next step was 700hp. But that looks like he'll need to get new/bigger items that you bolded. |

The Modified stock injectors wont reach 600whp even with the pressure cranked. The only way this happend was with a big correction factor on the dyno. Probably 12 to 20 % range.

for a turbo that is supposed to flow that much air even at 30 psi it should be way above that,570-600whp is what a stock cammed sti running a 35r w/1.06 would make on c16.And Clark has a good point, that fuel system is not enough to even support those numbers.I hate to say it and it might be a little premature but another case of bigger isn't always better.

Actually the modded injectors flow just over 1000cc, Aeromotive pump and c16. Fuel Was maxxed out. Obviously we don't use any correction factors (never have never will)

good numbers but I have a hard time thinking the Black will outflow many comparable turbos because the hotside wont let it flow past 650whp (i think alot of turbos would show good numbers pushed past 30psi...Clark may be correct in saying the stock FPR wont be able to keep up with modded injectors even on C16 but i doubt they used a high CF to achieve the 600 mark (just went balls out of the tune like juan said)..
What was the timing passed 5k? Do the cams in this setup make a huge difference? So the GT3794r might be out for anything but drag strip applications. would the A/R allow for good steet use under 30psi? This turbo just seems to large for many street builds, How would it compare to a GTX3582 with 1.06 A/R Last edited by ArSoN9; 02-21-2012 at 12:19 PM. |
