Default contiextremecontact 205/55/16 vs 215/55/16 vs 215/60/16

I might get the CEC, I want to put them on my 99 RS stock wheels. so they are 16.
what do you guys suggest as far as width and sidewall?
I will use them all year round so I was thinking 215 or 205 and as far as sidewall something like 50/55. any suggestions?
I am in MN but I might move to one of the coasts either NYC, Boston or Oregon, Washington.

I just have stock suspensions. I tried to read a bit about the pros and cons of each setup but I need more specific suggestions. I don't do auto-x.

I read that 205 is better for snow situations and 215 offer better cornering in dry situations.

d00000000000000000d.....it has to do with the rollout of the tire......which has to do with fitting.....which has to do with gearing

you dont really understand tire sizing very well, it appears

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html

you have 16x7 wheels

I'd get the 225/50 which would fit perfect on your wheels

I don't really want such large tire. the stock tire is 205/55/16.

As Scotty said, 225/50-16 is the CORRECT "plus zero" tire size for your wheels and will not goof-up your speedo.

Listen to your Uncle.

BTW, the ContiExtreme Contact is a pretty good choice -- I have them in 225/45-17 on my Legacy...which came with 205/50-17 rubber <--- hint, hint.

I understand what you guys are saying...
205/55-16 4.4in 12.4in 24.9in 78.2in 811 0.0%
225/50-16 4.4in 12.4in 24.9in 78.1in 811 -0.1%

but could you explain to me the advantages of the 225/50 over the 205/55?

On a 7"-wide wheel, you get less sidewall flex and a larger contact patch --> more grip = better handling & braking

wouldn't that decrease MPG and be a bit worse in the snow though?

i can not unzip your head and pour knowlege into it

you can not have your cake and eat it too

If you buy an all season tire it is a compromise

if you buy a tall, skinny tire it is usually better in snow
or
if you buy a shorter, fatter tire it will be better dry

compromise

mpg is just something to forget about entirely

I would buy the 225/50 and forgetaboutit
