Loving my MPG
I now have 24,000 miles on my 2012 Impreza. I've been consistently getting 36.6 mpg this spring so far.
Here it is a year ago...

CVT or MT?
I have an MT and I'm fairly happy with my fuel efficiency too considering it's an AWD car. I'm just over 3k miles now and I'm averaging 31-32 mpg, but my commute includes a bunch of city driving. I've had one tank so far where I've done mostly highway driving and came out around 35 mpg. |

Milage seems better so far this spring also for us. Filled up and reset the display on be highway and saw 38 mpg. Filled up and hit the highway today and was seeing 36 mpg again. Have to see how the trend continues this spring. Sitting at 17k miles. Will have to see what it actually calculates our as.

My 5MT averages ~35 MPG on a combination of highway and curvy rural roads.
Count me as another happy owner. I'm seeing FB Imprezas everywhere. I read that the '12s have outnumbered the '11s by at least 3:1. Strangers track me down in parking lots to ask me about the car. I've had it for over a year now and I still get compliments on it. |

Well, that is close to what I got on my '03 WRX on premium fuel. (Actually 22.4 on average)
There is however another thread for complaining about mileage. Several actually. This is a happy thread! I too am happy with the return on mileage out of my '13 CVT. Averaging 33.3 right now. John |

Ignorance? How so?
I have not disputed anyone that was unhappy with their fuel economy. I don't think people are making it up. I have simply stated what I am getting. Nothing more, nothing less. I bough this car expecting around 10 mpg better than the '03 WRX it replaced, and on regular, rather than premium, fuel. For me, it has delivered what I expected. Frankly, I didn't give a ***** about other cars because I had 100% reliability for 10 years out of my rex. Because of that, I wanted another Subaru. Otherwise, I may have looked into other vehicles as well. John |

Maybe you get the mpg Subaru advertises, and if so good for you. If you're happy about your mpg in your CVT and it gets poor mileage then "ignorance is bliss" applies. If a product doesn't perform as advertised I consider it false advertising.
The CVT Impreza gets mpg that is smack dab in the middle of the 30 mpg EPA highway crowd. Therefore, I consider that false advertising, or at least deception - same thing. Those who proclaim the CVT can get what is advertised if only the driver would slow down are indeed ignorant. I've shown I can get 50 mpg with the CVT Impreza if I drive slowly enough. The most laughable are those who claim the CVT gets good mpg when they own the manual transmission version. |

During the winter I was getting 33 mpg. When I got the car last spring I was getting 36 mpg. Good to see it is back. Again, this is mostly highway.

My '13 sport cvt gets 34-38 highway. My niece bought her cvt same time, and she drives hwy 75 miles a day and avg 38 mpg for last 3 tanks since she added cruise. We love our scoobies, and I'm adding 3 more as my fleet cars for the practicality and mpg they get.
