Anyone that has done a JDM swap reattach the O2 heater sensor to clear the CEL and be compatible for emmissions? Is this the best route to go? Any info is appreciated..Thanks, Matt

I'm working on this right now. My twinscroll swap didn't leave enough wire on the sensor to reach the connector by the boost controller, so I cut and spliced. Then I got a CEL for Lean Bank 1 and saw that my A/F was reading 26:1 at idle. Can you be a bit more descriptive of your issue?

I had to get a used wiring harness because the one that came with my engine was totally destroyed, and time to rewire and all that was too much. So I have enough wire to reach the connector, but i left the sensor off and it gave me a cel. I guess I can hook up the O2 heater and just mount it so it works but does nothing?? I am thinking this will cure the CEL, and I also want to pass emmisions, so other ways I have thought about may cause a problem once hooked in to the the emmissions test. I also dont have an a/f gauge, maybe it would be a good idea now. I am getting it tuned in about 2 weeks, and i am nervous as hell right now, havent' put more than half throttle, it boosts up quick, havent seen more than 15 psi, but i try to keep it at 0.

Fragment-Was just thinking about it, what kind of turbo/boost do you run, and how do you keep it up higher twds 19 or so all the time. I have read people have replaced the spring on teh waste gate??

I'm really confused. You plan on running without the front O2 sensor? How do you expect the ECU to calculate fuelling? I doubt you'll meet emissions without an operational sensor mounted in the exhaust stream.

To answer your second question, I'm not running at all right now; the first thing I did after getting the engine to start and run ok was to send my ECU to KingPin. Good ol FedEx sent my ECU to the wrong coast, so I'm looking at a total of 8 - 10 days down time

I'm running both 02 sensors in my setup and i have no CEL's. Why are you not running o2's?

What are you talking about? Your MAF is in your intake, your 02 is in your exhaust. What is the code you are seeing?

I am at work, dont have the number on me but it read 'senser heater control cirucuit'. Is there another spot were I am just overlooking?

MAF measures how much air goes in; yes. O2 sensor is used to measure the air/fuel ratio so the ECU knows if its adding too little or too much fuel to that air.

I think you need to sit down and ask yourself if you are willing to risk your expensive new motor to your limited understanding of how it works.

Ok, I do understand that, what you are saying. There also seems to be no spot on the exhaust man for an o2 sensor to plug in...I know where the old one was, and I see nothing. I was wasnt thinking before, trying to write and work at the same time in hopes to fix this so I can drive it to get it tuned sat.

On the USDM WRX, the front O2 sensor mounts in the up-pipe before the first catalyst. On the JDM ver8 with twin scroll, the front O2 sensor mounts in the top of the downpipe, just after the turbo. This is before the first catalyst in the downpipe.

Ok thanks fragment. Yeah, that is the prob, I have a custom DP so I guess I have to weld a bung on it just after the turbo and put a O2 sensor in it. Do you have any idea of the USDM wrx O2 sensors are ok to use, Ralli Spec told me today they weren't sure if it would. I will call King Pin on the way home, see what they say. Thanks for the insight. I've heard others have used the WRX O2 sensor which makes things simple. Its got a longer wire than the JDM one, so it can still plug into the connector by the boost controller.

Well I fixed mine, no CEL, but I welded an O2 sensor just after the Turbo in the DP. I Think those COBB stages eliminate the rear O2 sensor, someone must know what to do.
