Default Clutch slipping at 18k miles?!?!?!

Last week while I was out driving my car, I decided to launch it (just making sure I hadn't forgotten how...) and rather than experiencing what would have been a great launch, the rpm's hovered at 4500 and slowly rose up to about 6000 when the car finally took off. This is my first time owning a manual-tranny car, but I'm pretty sure that this is clutch slip...

The clutch slippage doesn't interefere that much with my daily driving, but I do experience minor slipping once in a while. How urgent is this problem? I can live without drag launches for a while (I have my fun in the twisties ), but I'm afraid of a dying/dead clutch causing other troubles (ie. exploding).

Is it possible that my clutch needs replacing at just over 18000 miles? I admit I do drive pretty agressively, but I don't abuse my car. Whenever I have launched my car, I have made sure to slip some clutch rather than drop it, but I highly doubt I've launched enough to cut clutch life so short...Do dealers ever warranty this type of thing?

Also, what clutches can you all recommend? I don't want a clutch that will grab so hard it'll kill my tranny or one that will kill my (already empty) wallet.

Thanks in advance...
Paul

Default

sti ra clutch is pretty good, 30-50% stronger

also heard good things about clutch master stage 1

BOTH would not enable you to "launch"
both just gave you a great clutch that makes the car feel stock
heavier pedal feel, but liviable, i drive in traffic both way everyday

don't think there are any clutch out there that would let you launch the car without breaking something
