To those that have had issues with Royal Purple in the front diff/trans
There are tons of threads on this, but 90% are just people that have not used it and are going on hear say. If this is all your going off of and have no real relevant information please dont post. Nothing negative, I just dont want a "OMFG broken gears" whore thread.
Background of the car: 2005 WRX, stock 5spd, dyno'd at 280awhp in AZ summer - tuner est. 300whp at below 90* Ran all Royal Purple fluids since around 20k, now at 54k as of today Here is the problem, and FWIW it may very well not be from the fluid, but I dont know. Since yesterday I have noticed that when I do a little spirited driving off of lights the sychros dont seem to keep up with me. I am not new to the awd driving, I bought my car new and I shift slow. The problem I am having is that when I engage the clutch and move to neutral before the next gear it seems that the car lurches forward for a second as if it is just yanked out of gear. Again, this is not what is happening as I am very capable of driving this car. This has only happened 1 or 2 other times, and only within the last 15k I am right around 15k now so it is time for another fluid change, but if this is a sign that the Royal Purple is not suited for a 15k interval then I do not want to put it back in and will probably opt for Scottys Cocktail. I have sent the Royal Purple to Blackstone Labs once before and everything seemed fine, but having only used the Royal Purple since I started changing the fluid I cant help but wonder.

i don't have MT, but a 5EAT LGT. i've been running RP full synthetic since approx 7500 miles and i know have 42K. no problems what so ever, changed out every 3K-3500 miles. i know some of the local subie techs have been using scotty's special mix and so far they tell me it's good stuff.

I used royal purple max gear 75w90 + 1qt. synchromesh for a little while, but I wasn't impressed with synchro operation, so I switched back to a valvolene dino + synchromesh mix, shifts MUCH smoother.
