I'm so ecstatic to be posting in here!

This just got delivered to my house a day or two ago. Garage Tuning was selling the last of their new Prodrive oval-tip axlebacks for $185, so I snagged one.

I'm keeping it boxed up and mummified until I get my new WRX engine (just took the plastic wrap off of the tip for the pics). Which will hopefully be within a few months.

Dude you have no idea. I was pretty pumped about that deal.

Of course it's just the axleback, I'll need a midpipe when the time comes, but I'll figure it out.

Nice Road Angel. Do they work???

I just added a Prodrive oval tip backbox to my STi this evening. I was all set to have a friend weld up a straight pipe axleback but then I saw the bling in his shop.

Yeah I know, I'm pretty happy. I think your five bananas just about describes it.

Hey, I know it's just an exhaust, but I've had this car for eight years and haven't had much of a chance (nor the money) to tinker with it nearly as much as I'd have liked. So it's pretty cool.

Yeah I was lucky to see it, I typically don't check out the vendor classifieds often, and they only had a few left.

My first choice for a turbo exhaust was going to be the MadDad 2.5" Whisper from www.daddysscp.com, but I couldn't resist something that was $200 less.

I'm in the same boat.. except that I'm not waiting for a swap. I'm going to get the stock midpipe modified. It sure is a perty piece. I unwrapped mine down to the bubble wrap on the canister. Yay for us!

My current N/A exhaust is a mangled mess. It's a Bosal generic canister, welded to WRX OE axleback piping, welded (flanges cut off) to a Strömung 2.25" midpipe.

Don't... even... ask. Let's just say the exhaust place screwed it up badly, I had it repaired, screwed up again......... I ended up paying more in labor, than it would've cost for a new Strömung catback. Oh well.

Anyway since the mid and axleback piping are welded, I can't just take the axleback off. Besides, it'll add to the "newness" when I get the new engine in. New power, new sound... bigger smile...

I loved my Strömung on my RS. Stainless dual tip. It droned though something fierce at around 70. Had an extra resonator welded into the mid pipe and I was happy.

Though I'm a big fan of the Prodrive sound. Just awesome.

Arnie,

Yeah I'll probably go for a resonated midpipe, honestly. Oval-tip isn't exceedingly loud anyway, but I like 'em pretty quiet. I like a little growl when you step on it, but otherwise it just draws too much attention. I'm not out to show off.

If you will be using the stock catted downpipe, the stock midpipe (with resonator) is more than fine when mated to the Prodrive. Absolutely quiet. No drone, just a good tone. When I threw on the Bosal DP I noticed a significant increase in volume. no droning but just louder. I kinda prefer the quieter sound with stock DP.

But my Prodrive is so old it doesn't even say Prodrive, it says WRSport!

Never posted in this forum before, but figured I might as well since I'm running P1's and a round tip axleback.

Ha, I remember those. I also remember Strömung when they still used mild steel! (And I don't think they've updated their website, since. )

There was a guy in MAIC who had a stock STi mid he was giving away, but I'm not near where he lives and he wanted it picked up. So when the time comes, I may just go with a stock STi mid, and yeah that's resonated.
