Time for a wet clean on that sensor. I've had to clean mine twice since purchasing.

I'm going to assume Nikon won't cover this under the warranty.

DIY, it's really simple. Or take it to a local camer shop to do it for you. Usually like $20

There's no such thing as a local camera shop in my area.

Closest ones are B&H and Adorama which are 2 hours away.

Oblig. baby photos. She was born Sunday morning.

She's still in the NICU as Sunday, her birthday, marked the 36th week of her gestation.

Looks about right. I was about half that at around 1,200. Do you have an older DSLR you can practice sensor cleaning on? The oil will come off easily but it's alway good to get a feel for something that risky before jumping in cold.

The 6D is actually pretty nice. When I have some extra money I'd love to get one as a backup but have it set up for landscape shooting since it has higher image quality than the MKIII and can take a non-standard focusing screen.

In that set they range from 640 to 5000. I wanted to give the auto-ISO a try in an unpredictable lighting scenario and I was pretty impressed with the results. I kept the camera @ 125 and shot between 1.2 & 1.8 and only on two occasions did it boost the ISO much higher than it needed to.

Regardless, 12,800 works just fine:

And another from that night:

50mm | f1.2 | 1/125 | 1600 ISO

Really? I haven't seen any tests suggesting the 6D has better IQ than the 5D mark iii. I do know it handles high ISO a tad better than the mark iii. I have a 7D and just bought a mark iii. I wouldn't be able to handle going to a worse AF system than my 7D after being used to it. The 6D is a great camera don't get me wrong. But with the D600's specs and at a lower cost than a 6D you kind of have to wonder what Canon was thinking. They probably didn't want to make it much better cause then it would still all the thunder from the mark iii and hurt it's sales.

The D600 is a better camera, for sure.

These are with the 6D. MK III comparison is just silly considering the price difference.

Test-driving the 6-series BM...I mean, Canon.
It's okay.
Not great.
Image quality is on par with the 7D;
it's certainly no 5D,
but you can't expect that at 2/3 the price.
I will get a MKIII again.
Explain please Specifically the part about the 6D IQ being on par with a 7D which is a crop sensor. 6D should be way better than that.

So since you have used both. Which camera do you believe produced the better images. I'm going to say that no one would ever be able to tell which pics came from what camera.

D600 huh? I thought you were saying the Canon 6D produced higher IQ pics than the 5D mark iii. Sorry if I'm just reading what you wrote wrong lol.

Nailed the focus for 1.2 5d3 AF rocks..why not aperture or shutter priority?

I'm not sure, I was a little inebriated.

And yes, it is great. I will definitely miss that sensor.

Yes, I have a Mark III. I was disagreeing with your statement about the 6D sensor being "way better" than the 7D simply because it is full frame.

Yeah sorry for side tracking the thread. Moral of the whole story was I hope I made the right decision buying a mark iii. Guess I'll know in a couple of days.

Back to topic for me.

Oh, for sure! The MKIII is essentially a 1DX in a pair of slacks.

Not sure how I feel about that description - I'd call it a sexy, less wallet-abusing, ultra marathoner 1DX - but +162834937 for the III. Best camera Canon has made in awhile. I've had every 5D so far, and the III is mm, mmm, mm.

How are you focusing that 50L at f/1.2....HOW!? That 5DIII AF is so awesome. I might have to pick up a 6D for the time being. Too poor for the 5DIII

PS. Got their album the other day. Loving it!

Alright, I'm putting up a photo, and a relatively low-tech one at that, since you all are rambling on about the 5D3 (which, I agree, is an absolutely brilliant thing).

This is Tatoosh, just off the edge of Cape Flattery.
